Had to ask if anyone recognized my avatar. I am a mild freak when it comes to older adventure games. I am not ashamed to be so. I never got to play them when I was younger and really like them now. It allows moi and the wife to play games together. Actually, I build computers to be compatible for older comp games while being able to run Win XP computers without a hiccup.
Anyone else a big adventure game fan?

I liked 'Wasteland' and the other games that used that engine (now we're talking OLD adventure games). Even older than that, I liked the Infocom text adventures. Interactive Fiction is alive and well today, for that matter:

And new games are being churned out even today by hobbyists/enthusiasts. Some of them are quite good.
Incidentally, I liked Sierra's games, too, which prompts me to give you special kudos for your avatar.

I looked up your link: http://ifarchive.org/. All I can say is Wow. I know that a lot of those text adventure games can take a long time to play. Maybe 30+ hours. There are so many. I looked up the TRS80 adventure games and saw that there was Pyrimad 2000. I can't believe that they have that! Now, all I need to find is Cosmic Fighter. I tried to clean up a couple of the original cassette tapes with Cool Edit Pro without any success. The best thing about the text AG is that they allow you to imagine the world and essentially force you to make maps and a lot of notes. Much better for a kid to play something like that then a FPS.
I became a big fan of graphical adventure games about 5 years ago. Gabriel Knight is probably one of the best. I wish it had a little better graphics, maybe someone out there will improve upon it. There is a loader from an Italian site that allows it to run on 98 and XP. Other games/series that I own and enjoy: Tex Murphy, Toonstruck, Monkey Island, Broken Sword, Indiana Jones, Day of the Tentacle, Loom, Grim Fandango, the original Sam and Max, Full Throttle, Maniac Mansion, Zak McKracken. Ones I have not played: The Dig and The Labyrinth.

Sounds more like a death wish Mr D. RabbitGrant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......
I've been wrong lots of times. Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Eli, I saw your post about possibly playing Gabriel Knight on XP. If you are truly interested, there is an installer that will install it with some fixes so it will play on 98 and XP. Go to http://www.gabrielknight2k.tk/. This guy is a devoted fan. He also has an installer for GK2. Neat thing about that one is that it will allow you to burn all of the disc that come with GK2 on to one DVD. The dvd will then install GK2 correctly on to XP for you. If you are worried about spyware or anything of the sort don't. I used these installers a couple of years ago and the sky has not fallen.
Another group that is out there is at www.scummvm.org
They wrote a program that will run almost all of the older Lucas Arts games: monkey island series, day of the tentacle, full throttle, indiana jones, the original Sam and Max, Loom, Broken Sword (not Lucas Arts) among others not listed. This allows anyone to play them without having to have a fast computer. I got it playing on a laptop that has a 300 Mhz K6-2.
on a side note, I have played The Longest Journey and have the sequel here waiting to be played. I also played Siberia. The two remind me of one another.
