    Should I Be Worried?

First a little back ground. Our little dog is very sick. We have been nursing her along for about a year hoping she would pass away on her own. But now its time to take her to the vet to be put down. Our appointment is for 1:00 pm today.

So, a little while ago my wife says to me " I'm going to make Angel some eggs and bacon before we take her to the vet". And she walks out of the room. 15 minutes later she brings me eggs and bacon. I'm starting to get really scared.

    R.I.P Angel
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

No need to worry PP your wife is just trying to let you share a last supper with your 4 legged friend.

I'm sorry to hear that especially since I realize what time it is right now. I have an 11 year old German Shepherd that I will have to take on that same trip to the vet one day. That will not be a good day.

I think they are putting you down brotha man. The dog is going to take over your life.... and your wife...

On a more serious note, sorry for the circumstances. I know how hard losing a long time family member (pet) is.

Hang in there man! My mom had to put her dog down a few years ago and I didn't have the balls to be with him on his last day. I don't know if that was the right decision or not but I loved the little guy and watching him die would have torn me apart. I am tearing up as I am writing this. Just hang in there and yes, RIP little Angel!

That's awesome man. We have two dogs and they are just as much a part of the family as our three kids.

I had a walker about 7 years ago that got cancer in his nose at 15 months old. I had to take him to the vet finally and put him down. I don't think I have ever cried as much as I did when he passed. I was thankful that the vet wouldn't let me pussy out and leave him so I sat with him until it was done. I still carry his name tag on my keyring to this day.

                            Please accept my condolences

Well we are back. She fell asleep peacefully.

My wife took it pretty hard, so did my 31 yo son. My older girls don't know yet but I've been preparing everyone for the last 6 months. So this is not unexpected.

Ok this is my take on pets. You just might learn from it....

God gave us some of his creatures to be our companions. We learn alot from them. We take that knowledge with us thru our whole life. What our pets do best for us is help us to learn to cope with the devastating loss of a human family member. When our pets pass on we morn terribly but its not near as bad as losing a family member. However, losing a pet prepares us for the greater loss that is sure to come. Losing a pet makes it easier to cope, to understand and to deal with losing that family member when the time comes. Think about it........
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......
