Im sorry for your loss PP. Atleast its the vet doing it and not you pulling the trigger. I had to do that for 2 of my dogs. Damn snakes are bad near my house and my neighbors like to poison animals.

Well we are back. She fell asleep peacefully.

My wife took it pretty hard, so did my 31 yo son. My older girls don't know yet but I've been preparing everyone for the last 6 months. So this is not unexpected.

Ok this is my take on pets. You just might learn from it....

God gave us some of his creatures to be our companions. We learn alot from them. We take that knowledge with us thru our whole life. What our pets do best for us is help us to learn to cope with the devastating loss of a human family member. When our pets pass on we morn terribly but its not near as bad as losing a family member. However, losing a pet prepares us for the greater loss that is sure to come. Losing a pet makes it easier to cope, to understand and to deal with losing that family member when the time comes. Think about it........

Im truly sorry for your loss PP I cant fathom losing my pooch shes my first and shes only two but reading about your experience prompted me to spend a little extra quality time with my best friend this afternoon (dont tell my wife, she'll get jealous) The thought of her demise had never crossed my mind until today. Ive lost several family members including my father, but I think Id have an even harder time losing my pooch. My condolences are with ya.

I am very sorry for your loss PP. Have been there recently and about to be there again with her brother pup. You can tell your 31 year old son that mid-50's guys can take the loss hard, too. I wept for the first time in years when we lost her. It sure does Suck with a capital S.

Sorry PP, So sorry.

I had a dalmatian puppy, bought him in October 2010 he was 3months old. My 10 year old dream of having a dalmatian was true.
But due to certain problems in life (like my ****ing illness) I coulden't take care of him anymore. Poor guy.
I miss him everyday, he got a new home now though.

When I move out I'll get me a female Italian greyhound. They are wonderful companions, with those big eyes and happy-go-lucky personality.
