Dancehall reggae an intro. Dancehall reggae is a lot different than the traditional bob marley style. They speak in a dialect called patwa which is a bit hard to understand. Snow's 90s hit "informer" is watered down dancehall. Consider it the camel snus of dancehall.

Youtube is great for classic sound system dancehall. I love reggae, but I'm not crazy about rock band reggae acts like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Third World, etc. In Jamaica reggae has always been about the traveling sound systems that play the latest 45s and custom dubplates, or face off against rival sound systems in clash competitions to see who can win the crowd over.

One of the most famous sound system DJs is David Rodigan, a middle-aged, bald, white guy from England. I love this little clip!
