Ron Paul and I could care less what his chances are, it's not a question of politics, it's a question of economics. Keynesians have run this country into the ground, it's time for dose of Austrian economics.

Im actually not convinced that Obama is a poised to win another election. We all know who voted for him predominantly in 2008. The urban demographic. I live in a big city, and a very liberal one at that. I just don't see the enthusiasm this time around. My girl will be voting for him again. We try not to talk about politics anymore, at least regarding the current administration. It gets ugly. I could see myself voting for whomever has the most conviction to bring home both our troops and our jobs. Those are the most important issues as I see it.

At this point, my ballot is looking blank for the top job. I have not been happy with any of the choices and I don't see that changing any time soon. Even the 3rd parties have been putting out poor choices.

The may not be as much enthusiasm for Obama, but the Republicans have way overplayed their hand dealt to them in 2010. The gap between the rich and poor is the biggest in US history, but they insist on cutting taxes for the rich, and putting the economic burden on the backs of the poor and middle class.

I mean seriously, they are running on ending Medicare. There is not one person who has Medicare, or is nearing retirement that is willing to give it up. Unbelievable...

Medicare is a huge budget suck and needs to be dealt with, but we cetainly can't leave our elderly with no support. We need to make a cutoff date and say "if you've paid into it your whole life than you will get what you were promised, but on x/x/20xx we are setting a cut off date so anyone born after this date or entering the workforce after this date etc will have to be part of the new program. Then they need to replace it with something a little more cost efficient. I work in the medical field and so many providers are refusing to even accept medicare/medical patients because the reimbursement rate is so rediculously low. It's essentially doctors working for free a lot of the time and we can't expect that. Plus it leads to them making up the cost by raising the price of everything on everyone else.

It needs to be replaced with something better, but we certainly can't just leave those who depend on it currently out to die. We need to establish a new program and then phase it in over time, because the current way they run medicare is as huge a money-suck to our budget as our 3 wars are in. It does need reform, but I don't see either parties really putting out any great ideas on how to fix it.
                  \
Also, the dems have wanted to cut medicare too, they just are pretending like they don't like that idea today because the republicans are saying they want medicare cut. Then when the dems go back to wanting to cut it, the republicans will pretend like they were always for medicare. Tragedy theatre at it's finest.

Both parties seem to be moving towards getting rid of or extremely limiting these retirement programs.

I totally agree with two entitlements and that is Medicare and SS, been paying into these programs since I was 15. As far as I am concerned it is a forced business transaction but in the end having not to worry about healthcare/pharma drugs when I retire or putting food on my plate, paying the utilities and property taxes seems like a worthy deal.

There is no flippin way I will be working minimum wage for survival when this time comes.
If the USA is moving towards this direction over the next decade then it looks like I will be planning a escape to Europe with some rights by parents to become a citizen there.

I just want to be left alone to fish and garden my last days and not be standing in front of Walmart for 40 hours a week greeting people until I fall over in the parking lot and get trampled on.

Obama signed the PACT act into law. No way am I voting for him.

The rest of the field is shaping up to be a snooze fest.

What did you guys think of the Republican debate tonight?

Ron Paul really shined, but for some reason the media said he didn't do well and Romney some how came out on top.

I think these numbers might be a bit biased or made up.

Ron Paul is the only Republican I would vote for. Too bad he'll never get nominated.

I'll vote for Paul if he gets the nomination. Otherwise I'll probably just stay home.

If I vote for any of these other guys, its like saying I believe in them somehow.

^ this indeed. I swore I'd never again vote for anyone with an R or a D ever again, and certainly never an R, but I would vote for Ron Paul. Failing that, Nader.
