In a world where poor people who would badly need the money themselves have no chance at all to evade paying taxes, why should there be a way for the rich.

The Swiss bank secret is an abomination in my eyes.

The overblown, money wasting goverments of today, producing way too high tax rates, are another topic. But the rich are profiting from a functioning society in many ways. They should be forced, if needed, to give their fair share back. If they don't want to pay taxes like everybody else does, they should simply emigrate to a "better" country.

    Cheers!

I agree, the 400 wealthiest americans pay 18% in taxes, which is lower than I pay. We need to simplify the tax code and enforce it strictly, I think that is probably the best way to stop these people from evading taxes.

On one hand I like that the swiss do business in the way they do, I am all about confidentiality.
But on the other hand, I do not agree with wealthy Americans making money in our country and then hiding it somewhere else so that they don't have to pay taxes, I get no such luxury and I don't think anyone should be able to get around paying taxes. We should have a reasonable tax code that is heavily enforced, as opposed to this thing where rich end up paying a lower percentage of their wages to taxes each year than the guy who works at wall mart...

Can somebody please explain to me how the US, or the IRS can prsecute ANYONE, let alone other COUNTRIES for something that is not even a law in this country? There is no law requiring anyone to pay income taxes. So how can a person or a country be sued or prosecuted for helping someone not pay taxes when there is no law requiring us to pay taxes. This drives me insane. So there is no law requiring us to pay income tax, yet we all do, and can not get a job without agreeing to do so in most cases. Then we can be prosecuted by the IRS, which are NOT gov't employees, and have our wages garnished and/or be sent to jail, for something that is not a law, by a company that is not even part of the gov't. Baffles my mind how this is gotten away with everyday. And the only answer I get from people is "You can't fight the IRS". Why? It should cost me no money at all to walk in court, and say my case is "There is no law requiring me to pay income tax, so I choose not too, I rest my case". The next words out of the judges mouth should be "Case dismissed". Why is it not as easy as that? Just blows my mind what we as citizens just accept, and live with.

You will find the Federal law that requires you to pay taxes in Title 26 of the United State Code.

Sorry, you gave me a lawyers interpretation of tax code. Didn't prove a thing to me. And because of such a need for interpretation is why there have been and continue to will be people who fight the income tax and win.

There are a lot of films and stories about people trying to find the actual tax law and so far no one has.

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State."

That's odd, considering that it only takes about 10 seconds to find the relevant information with Google.

Here is an interview by Aaron Russo with the IRS:

                http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSW_M5_jPkA

There is a guy who is offering 50,000.00 reward for someone who can show him the law. Better go cash in.
