      What Makes America Great?

George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and other founding fathers grew hemp; Washington and Jefferson Diaries. Jefferson smuggled hemp seeds from China to France then to America.
Benjamin Franklin owned one of the first paper mills in America and it processed hemp.
The flag, was sewn from American grown hemp by Betsy Ross in her parlor. The flag was flown when the Declaration of Independence was read aloud at Independence Hall on July 8, 1776. No contemporary record of this meeting was made. The Betsy Ross Flag had 13 stars and stripes.

"Make the most you can of the Indian Hemp seed and sow it everywhere." - George Washington (Founding father, 1st President of the United States)

"We shall, by and by, want a world of hemp more for our own consumption." - John Adams (Founding father, 2nd President of the United States)

"The greatest service that can be rendered to any country is to add a useful plant to its culture." - Thomas Jefferson (Founding father, 3rd President of the United States)

Personal freedom I would say, here in Europe we are burden with a long history on our shoulders that turn back our creativity and the way we express ourseilves. People are also used to think that the government takes care of them. That was the first thing that struck me when I come to America the first time. You see a cool looking fire truck passing by with a waving American flag - you would never see that in Europe.

Hey Seattleite... It's all true but what's up with Holders clarification the other day... Seems Obama turned his back on a big chunk of the people who supported him.. That's the way I see it..

If it wasn't for America the English language would be about as relevant as Portuguese on the world stage. As it stands it seems to be pretty much the lingua franca.

Hate to say it, but there's a lot of things to hate in this country...health care, wars, oil dependance, bought off politicians, no retirement, unemployment rates, increasing college costs, religious bigotry, bigotry in general...I could go on.

That said, one of the greatest things about this country is I can scream all I want to about the above things and no one's going to throw me in jail! I love that you can go from California to Alabama to Florida to New England and almost feel like you are in a different country when you get there!

The best thing about America? It's people. Doesn't matter if we disagree on almost anything, I've found that Americans in the end will still treat each other with the respect we'd like to recieve. Seriously, after all the yelling and screaming is over, we could all join in in a nice beer/barbecue bash and we'd get along and have a good time! I've hitch hiked across this country, and got treated well by everyone mostly despite race, creed, religion, politics, etc. Gotta love that!
