So I've been contracted to do a Straight for your friend and mine - The Man, The Myth, The Legend - Xobeloot.
Now, anyone who has seen a picture of this guy unshaven knows that aint no regular-ol'-nansy-pansy-everyday-straight-razor is gonna even attempt to mow down that beard! No, that would be like trying to cut down a Sequoia with a freakin' IceTool.
Therefore I present . . . The AXE!

This is a vintage Wade & Butcher 7/8" CHOPPER. Full Hollow grind. No Jimps. I mean c'mon, this is Xobeloot - and Jimps are for sissies!
This thing is Massive!
Made in Sheffield, England between 1818 and 1890 - Wade & Butchers are some of the most sought-after, and best made razors ever created. Made from one of the two highest regarded steels ever used for razors - the only other razors held in such high regard are of course those from Solingen, Germany.
I'll be dressing her in the Ivory scales you see pictured. The razor was originally in these big, black, ugly,(but fitting) beasts of wood scales, but we are going for pure Brewtality infused with just a touch of class. Later on I'll post pics of the original scales.
As you can see there is quite a bit of restoration work to be done, lots of rusting and pitting on the blade, the scales definately need some work, honewear needs to be addressed, and the cutting edge needs to be reset. Discoloration and general fuglyness abound. Like the RickCharles Project, this thread is a gift to Xobe to document the razors journey.
Stay Tuned . . .
