    The Xobeloot Project. The AXE!

So I've been contracted to do a Straight for your friend and mine - The Man, The Myth, The Legend - Xobeloot.

Now, anyone who has seen a picture of this guy unshaven knows that aint no regular-ol'-nansy-pansy-everyday-straight-razor is gonna even attempt to mow down that beard! No, that would be like trying to cut down a Sequoia with a freakin' IceTool.

    Therefore I present . . . The AXE!

This is a vintage Wade & Butcher 7/8" CHOPPER. Full Hollow grind. No Jimps. I mean c'mon, this is Xobeloot - and Jimps are for sissies!

    This thing is Massive!

Made in Sheffield, England between 1818 and 1890 - Wade & Butchers are some of the most sought-after, and best made razors ever created. Made from one of the two highest regarded steels ever used for razors - the only other razors held in such high regard are of course those from Solingen, Germany.

I'll be dressing her in the Ivory scales you see pictured. The razor was originally in these big, black, ugly,(but fitting) beasts of wood scales, but we are going for pure Brewtality infused with just a touch of class. Later on I'll post pics of the original scales.

As you can see there is quite a bit of restoration work to be done, lots of rusting and pitting on the blade, the scales definately need some work, honewear needs to be addressed, and the cutting edge needs to be reset. Discoloration and general fuglyness abound. Like the RickCharles Project, this thread is a gift to Xobe to document the razors journey.

And if he ever decides to let his beard grow out..................he'll have something he can cut up chicken with in the kitchen...............that is a BIG blade

I look forward to watching the X-project unfold!!!
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

So here she is after a whole bunch of Carpal-Tunnel. Most of the pitting has been removed at this point, as well as all the rust. Most of the hone wear has also been addressed. Getting a nice satin-sheen to it. Shes on her way!

I must say, this is gonna be one bad-ass razor, even by my high standards.

After just waking up this morning and still being that special half-awake state, I had an awesome thought.....

This would make a great tool for a new super villain...... The Shaver!

I know it sounds silly, but stick with me on this...

A middle aged barber who owns his own little shop in the big city, he has a large clientele and one day accidentally cuts a customers neck and he dies in his chair. He gets arrested and sentenced to life in prison. He makes a mad dash to freedom and the abuse he received in prison turns him insane. He just wants to shave, what’s so wrong with that?

He preys on hairy men (and women in the south) and shaves their bodies completely. He finds that the unwilling victims squirm too much so it’s just best to kill them first so he can enjoy the ritual of removing their hair in peace.

            Imagine this scene:

Jorgen is walking down the street late at night, he’s been drinking and its hot out. His whole body itches, especially his face.

He turns the corner to take a short cut through an alley and 10 feet from him he sees a seemingly innocent looking, slightly paunchy man.

"You look a little uncomfortable there son" The man in the shadow says

Without even thinking Jorgen replies "It must be the heat, I itch all over!"

In a flash out comes The Shaver's trusty blade and with a trademark arc, it severs Jorgen’s carotid artery. The Shaver, using a shaving blade as large as a bears claw proceeds to remedy Jorgen’s problem, one quick swipe at a time.

The Shaver stands up "No tip needed sir, it was my pleasure" and down the alley he goes. There are so many people out there to shave and not having to wait for them to come to his shop means he can shave as many people as he wants!

Is there anyone who can stop this madman?

No way to tell exactly, but Wade & Butchers were made between 1818 and 1890. So pretty damn old! lol. I edited the original post - forgot to mention that.

I didn't even really think about it until now - this thing is 121 years old, at the very least! Holy crap!

The scales have been repaired, cleaned, shaped, and buffed:

                              Almost done!
