hey ABW you should check out the talks by Paul Stamets (you might know him already) on Ted.com

I think it's him also that suggested using mushrooms to heal the radioactive area in Japan.

Paul Stamets is the mushroom don if you don't know him please check him out.

            Medicinal mushrooms in general?

Shiitake and Clitocybe nuda are a couple of good examples.

Ahh... Now I think I know what you're driving at...

Here's a medicinal mushroom for you:

There have been calls for medical investigation of the use of synthetic and mushroom-derived psilocybin for the development of improved treatments of various mental conditions, including chronic cluster headaches (which I can personally attest to), following numerous anecdotal reports of benefits. There are also several accounts of psilocybin mushrooms sending both obsessive-compulsive disorders ("OCD") and OCD-related clinical depression (both being widespread and debilitating mental health conditions) into complete remission immediately and for up to months at a time, compared to current medications which often have both limited efficacy and frequent undesirable side-effects.

                  Dude.. I hear ya...

My first round of college was at an agricultural college in Tifton GA called ABAC(Abraham Baldwin) and we used to pick magic shrooms by the handful right across from our dorm room... The had fields of cattle that were feed the good stuff and shrooms grew like crazy... different but the same if you know what I mean...

It's not something to eat on a regular basis, but I know there's medicinal benefit in psilocybin mushrooms. I suffer from cluster headaches (and migraine), and one dose of psilocybin mushroom clears the cluster headache immediately (and sends it into remission for months at a time; preventing the attack from returning).

It also appears to have mental/spiritual benefit:

In 2006, the United States government funded a randomized and double-blinded study by Johns Hopkins University, which studied the spiritual effects of psilocybin mushrooms. The study involved 36 college-educated adults (average age of 46) who had never tried psilocybin nor had a history of drug use, and who had religious or spiritual interests. The participants were closely observed for eight-hour intervals in a laboratory while under the influence of psilocybin mushrooms.

One-third of the participants reported that the experience was the single most spiritually significant moment of their lives and more than two-thirds reported it was among the top five most spiritually significant experiences. Two months after the study, 79% of the participants reported increased well-being or satisfaction; friends, relatives, and associates confirmed this. They also reported anxiety and depression symptoms to be decreased or completely gone.

Well if that's not reason enough to make it illegal, I don't know what is. Well being? Satisfaction? Not in my America!

I have a little routine.. Believe it or not I spent years fine tuning this so while it will seem simple enough it took years of trail and error and research... I wanted the best and safest regimen and the companies and products I use are top notch for several reasons.. I can't get into why and what all this does as I would be here for days but I will list what I take and you can look them up..

I take 2 capsules of Fungi Perfecti Host Defense on an empty stomach a day

I take 3 Omegavia Fish Oil Caps a day..(1 before every meal)

I take 2 New Chapter Zyflemend tabs during the biggest meals of the day..

I take 1 New Chapter Men's Multi a day( a very balanced whole food vitamin.. No crazy levels)

ah cool... i think it would be hard for me to get the Fungi Perfecti Host Defense here in the UK... but i guess i could grow my own Turkey Tail mushrooms (by the way what did you study at Agriculture college?)

I take hemp oil for my omega 3:6:9... i hear it's a good ratio of the 3.

By the way, did you see this link i posted up before?

So is 'Host Defense' the range? If yes, which one do you take? The Turkey Tail one or a mixture?
