    Going bald at 25, HELP!

So i'm going bald it seems. I am 25 and about a year ago I noticed my hairline receding pretty badly. Not a big deal, but now I noticed the back of my head (where the spiral is) my hair is thinning at a rapid pace.

Why is this happening? My dad & mom's side has no baldness, even my great grandpa has a full head of hair. Why is this happening to me if it's not genetic? What can I do?

Am I destined to look like frosted?

I'm sorry fella. You are becoming me.
Slowly but surely you will degenerate into a totally annoying arsehole.

Had the same thing happen to me about that age. It might not be that you're balding, but rather that your hair has just started to thin a bit. I think it happens to men as they age.

At 25 or so, I was finding handfuls of hair in the tub after a shower. It lasted for about 6 months, but I never noticed any SERIOUS bald spots. Then one day, I just realized I didn't seem to be losing hair anymore. Seven years later, and no bald spots (although my hairline has receded a little bit).

Good luck, and if you do lose your hair, just embrace it. Shave it close, and rock it!

If it's not already short - get it short.

Actually, maybe a comb-over might suit you.

I started losing it at 21. Took a razor to it at 23. I know how you feel man, for a few years there it was hard to deal with... But you will learn to be bald and proud. Dude I can shower and get fully dressed and out the door in 6 minutes flat lol.

It could be stress that's causing you to lose your hair. If I recall correctly, you've been going through some tough times.

I would try to find ways to release stress.

Another suggestion: I can't speak from experience, but I've heard about people using DHT inhibitors to treat baldness. I would talk to your doctor and see what (s)he has to say.

My whole family started going bald around that age. I'm 24 and haven't started yet, maybe I got my mom's side of those genes. Haha

                    Good luck bro!

Native blood seems to have recessively thwarted that trend in my family.

Luckily I learned in the army that I could pull off a bald head if I had to. In fact most of the time I kept my head shaved because it was just so damn convenient, especially when you are forced to wear a Berret/Patrol cap everywhere and it's a million degrees outside. I like my hair though, i'd like to have the option of keeping it if at all possible.

Hopefully it's just thinning out, I can live with that. I am wondering if Rogaine or any of these other products actually work, has anyone tried them?

It's just hair. I wouldn't give the institutional snake oil peddlers a penny. I've had long hair for almost 30 years now, but it's starting to get thin. I was talking about shaving my head, but my daughter vetoed it. I don't care much one way or the other, so my daughter wins for now. We'll see about the future.
