Robsan I just like the slower paced lifestyle.. when you go to the bank they know your name. Like you said people that don't know you would wave hello. I just enjoyed it more there.

The city's alright. I prefer rural areas though. What really pisses me off is the suburbs. They have absolutely nothing going for them. Generic chain stores you have to drive to, close proximity to neighbors, and traffic. It's like Satan himself conjured a mix of the worst elements of everything, and threw them together.

I work downtown and the people at both of my banks know my name. Just sayin... and as it's sort of on topic, people in Portland Oregon are the friendliest city folk I've encountered anywhere. Especially the crack dealers north of Burnside lol, they need to initiate conversation to advertise their product. Seriously though, Portlanders are the best. Also the most promiscuous according to a survey that came out last week, followed by Seattle, firmly in the number 2 slot. (get it?)

I must say, the drug dealers round Aalborg(Major city in northern Denmark) are also quite friendly... Surprisingly nice - It's a bit creepy.

This is the only real advantage to city life. You can cut someone off, or do something completely rude and obnoxious and you can be sure that you will never bumpt into that person again.

I hate living in big cities, especially in downtown areas. Living in the missions district of San Francisco is like a completely different country than just an hour away.

I agree with chad, suburbs is a nice balance. Got all the big city stores but none of the population or traffic. I love living in smaller towns but that can be boring too. The kinds of places where you have to drive 30 minutes to get to the grocery store or anywhere else. At least you can see the stars at night though or shoot your gun in the backyard without the swat team showing up.

I'm with you Eric, screw the city! Nothing but bums and traffic there. But it grows on you in a way.

Also, Mobile Alabama is not a real big city, that's like our suburbs down here lol. Good place though, lots of good folks from down thre. I don't care what they say about you rednecks

I prefer city live mostly because I'm nocturnal by nature. Left to my own devices, I'll be up from around 5PM-10AM or so. It's nice when I'm down in the city and I can walk down to K-Town and get some Korean food at 3 in the morning. In NYC I can go about all my business just about completely unimpeded by the fact that my natural sleep cycle is opposite of 75% of the world's. Up here, I've got to walk a 5-mile round trip to reach a gas station and get a soda if it's past midnight. If I want some nature, I'll take the train upstate and go hiking and camping for a weekend.

Absolutely.. have a good dinner and all would be awesome..

Oh i asked my wife, remember who is FROM here, if we won the lottery where she would want to live. She said Robertsdale, Daphne, Foley etc.. too funny. I'm glad she feels the same way I really didn't want to bring up the subject. She really surprised me.

Dude. I lived in Robertsdale over 25 years. This is the first I've ever heard anyone winning the lottery and moving to Robertsdale. Incidentally, Tim Cook, the brand new CEO of Apple is from there and graduated from RHS. Insanity!

I hear y'all. I live in a city called Delaware, about 20 miles outside of Columbus proper, but basically the northernmost suburb. I like the fact that I am about 20 minutes away from the urban environment, but far enough out that I can enjoy the smaller, quieter surroundings of what is basically a smaller college town.

And Columbus is about my speed too, as far as bigger cities go. It isn't NYC or Chicago----hell, it isn't even San Antonio really--- but big enough to be interesting.

I spent last weekend in Philadelphia, for example....and while Philadelphia is tourist heaven for a history buff like me, they can keep the rest of it. I don't think I'd live there for all the free cheesesteaks in the world.

Spirit Columbus is a neat city, I spent a couple weeks there in the summer. The girl I was dating her grandfather was a lawyer with an office downtown. We got to go up in the office during the fireworks display it was awesome. The radio station had the music to go with the fireworks. I sat in the big lawyer leather chair with my feet up watchin the show it was cool. Oh and they had a movie theater where they served ya food and all like a resteraunt. Saw pulp fiction.

I live in a small town wife my wife and 3 kids. We moved from the Twin Cities area (MN) 5 years ago to a town of about 4,000 people. I can't decide if I really like it though. Sure it's beautiful in the Smoky Mountains and all but....... Lots 'O cousin love here. Luckily I make it to Atlanta and Charlotte monthly or I would go nuts I tell ya!

It has been an incredible move for my kids though. All three really blossomed here so I have no complaints or regrets. I do miss the anonymity of a large city though. We are intensely private people. I was a bit taken back when one of the local bank tellers asked me if I was really having an affair with some lady in town though.... not that I ever would do that but it was freaky. I may have talked to this lady 10 times in total lol :P
