I belive that the power of placebo can trick the mind in to removing the withdrawal symptoms to a certain degree, but caffeine does certainly have a 'real' effect.

But... all drugs are basically "all in the mind", since it alters brain chemistry and neurotransmitters, which then affects the body... so I don't know what to get from this article.

Tell that to my shaking hands...

Not to mention decaffeinated coffee is not caffeine free.

I might have 1-2 sodas a day... That is it, sometimes none at all.
I don't thin here is a "caffeine buzz" or even addiction in my mind...

Coffee doesn't do anything to me, other than giving me a very bad, and very real headache if I don't have any.

Your body has reached it's tolerance level. Stop drinking and you'll get withdrawals. Headaches are the common symptoms.
Younger people can drink plenty of coffee without a notable effect in some people, but as you start to age you don't need so much to get that heart racing. Too much caffeine will dehydrate your spinal fluid. Don't tell me it's all in the mind!

I drink a variety of beverages rich in caffeine, and lots of them. But lately during the summer months I tend to drink mainly water and I have no adverse effects short or long term from lack of caffeine intake. No headaches, or irritability, especially when you compare it in any way to the headaches and nausea I felt after cold turkey quitting smoking. I do believe that much of what people "feel" with or withdrawn from caffiene is because they have been told that is how they are going to feel, jittery, anxious etc. I never get anything from caffeine. However energy drinks with guarana(spelling?) make my heart feel like its exploding. I can drink a triple espresso and go right to bed and get a good nights sleep. In fact the only symptom I might attribute to caffeine is sleepiness when I have a extra large amount in a short period.

But I have always been told I am weird. I guess this is one more nail in the coffin.

Medium coffee, latte, coldpress is the only thing that can keep me awake after lunchtime. Energy drink would be great but I just cant do the 13 spoons of sugar.
