Band is called Spivey's Corner. We have a Facebook and Reverb Nation page, who uses myspace? I am the new guy after they had to fire the last bass player. Anyway for now it has been mostly covers and original music should be coming down the pipe soon enough.

I like that guy Roo, It sounds like... Roots music? Is that the term I'm thinking of? Like country/folk, but timeless. Seems like it's always been there, but you can't pinpoint where.

They're pretty cool timoteo. That's more along the lines of the stuff I like.

Here's a piedmont string band. The style's been fading, but these cats are keeping it alive.

Man you want southern...........a southern you ain't never heard.....................cause we don't play it at no Yankee bars

            Then listen to this

If PP ever wrote a love song it would be something like this (especially the last stanza)

(Lyrics are included below the clip.................so you noowthan boys can all sing along)

            I said yeah yeah
No no no no no no

            Now listen to me
My wife ran off with the garbage man
My wife ran off with the garbage man
Now I don't miss that woman
But somebody gotta empty my can

Now let me tell you what happened

I came home the other night
Caught the two of you alone
And you told me was a nudist
Who came in to use the phone

Well I come from Alabama baby
And I got this banjo on my knee
Now you know I love to pick the banjo
Why does the whole wide world gotta pick on me?

            Listen to this honey

I'm gon' to take you over to my place
I'm gonna to stomp on your head
I'm gon' kill you so bad
You gonna wish you was dead

I'm gonna mess with you baby
Now let me tell you what I'm gonna do

I'm gonna take you to a secret place
Where I got a vat full of dippity doo
Sixteen little red noses and a horse that sweats
Gonna dip you in that dippity doo
Tie a rubber band around my fanny
And run around you screamin' like I'm an airplane
            And make me take off

Cause I love you baby oh

            Love you pretty Momma
Yeah I love yeah yeah yeah
            No no no no no
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

LX that was awesome! Loved it. Timoteo, that Hackensaw Boys clip was a crazy klezmyr-zydeco-hillbilly-goodness version of a great American Classic, the Gospel Plow. Great stuff. Snusdog, that's some Alabama Blues to start a bar fight to. Good clips. Keep 'em coming.

Edit LX: the Carolina Chocolate Drops clip. I didn't watch the other two... too tired. Need bed.

If Country music had an outlaw Mt. Rushmore, these would be the folks on it. I grew up listening to these guys. I love these guys. I like Hank Williams Sr. and Jr. too. I don't listen to much current country music. Sounds too much like pop music to me.

As a Brit, Country isn't really on my (our) radar, but I do like a bit of Johnny Cash, although admittedly it was off the back of hearing his covers album, and then the movie with joaquin phoenix.

That said, my favourite Me First & The Gimme Gimmes album is the Country one. I've listened to the originals of all their covers, and frankly, they sound way better in punk rock form

I'm normally a heavy metal kind of guy, but after 7 days of partying it was good to sit down and listen to Justin Townes Earle and the crowd was the most pleased one I had seen at the entire festival.
It's also my most clear memory from the festival - I hope he'll be back in Denmark some day, hehe.

Also Roo ; That was "chainsawing" awesome!

While not country, my favorite band is Drive By Truckers (my avatar). If you're not familiar with the DBT's, you must check them out. They are more rock, but have a very southern edge. Also, Chris Knight is a favorite of mine. I love classic country like Willie, Waylon, Cash, DAC, etc. My taste is leans more toward the Americana/Alt County/Red Dirt styles. I love bands and artists like Uncle Tupelo, Son Volt, Lucero, Slobberbone, Ryan Adams and the Cardinals, Reckless Kelly, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Slaid Cleaves and some Avett Brothers. There is a world of great music out there, but you have to put forth effort to discover it or you'll miss it. If you depend on the industry, you'll get alot of crap. Because that's what's in demand.
