Dammit Eric, I was just going to post about how badass and noble the Kazakhs are (I was very fortunate to visit Kazakhstan a couple years ago) and I was even going to comment on how badly Sasha Baron Cohen ruined their reputation... and there you go with the Borat shit. Although you did post a Borat clip a couple weeks ago that had me crackin' up... In any case, just KNOW that they are badasses, they are genetically and culturally very close to their Mongol and Kyrgyz neighbors, and they are nothing like the Borat charicature, as funny as it was. In fact in Almaty, the capitol of the province from which these pics come, the Soviet-style boulevards are lined with Lexus and Armani outlets... the typical urban Kazakh has more disposable income than most of us. Anyway, that in itself is pointless, just sticking up for the noble Steppe-folk in the face of Sasha Boren Cohen and his antics (funny as they may be). And thank you LX, for posting a link to pictures of these proud people.

As soon as I saw the thread title I hoped nobody beat me to the punch. I actually watched a bizarre foods where Andrew visited different embassies and Kazakhstan was one of them. They showed a part where they wore traditional dress etc. It was very interesting. Different cultures allways fascinate me.Comment
