My friend asked me to get his band's live cd out in the internet, so

I thought I'd share it with you guys. here is the torrent up on Demonoid for those interested. I think some of you guys might really enjoy it, and they asked me to put it out there. Let me know what you guys think of it.

Also, since I might be a bit slow seeding, I'll post a mediafire link for those who would rather not wait once it's done uploading.

Okay just listened to the CD - It's actually really great! It's a bit.. Different, but really cool!
I'd love to see them live, hehe. The first song, Big Toe wasn't really something I could get into, but the rest of the album is really fun and(to use a word that died before I was born) groovy

Found this write-up online, shikitohno, and it sounds like your friend's group has a helluva good time (and so does the audience!).

          Godchilla Breaks Genre Barrier

"Feedback from the audience is what fuels Godchilla’s live performances. The audience and band work simultaneously to sustain the energy levels at their shows.
          ...
The sometimes funk-country, sometimes progressive folk tunes are really a mash up of whatever genres sound good to the group. They consciously try to blend styles of music that don’t necessarily go together. Some songs go from a reggae verse to a country chorus while another has a folk flavor mixed with rock ‘n’ roll."

Haha damn I wish I'd been part of the audience - on the live CD it sounds like everybody had a great time!

              AN UPDATE??

shikitohno, you don't say who your friend is but I found this item concerning one of the Godchilla members:

Musician of the Week: Oliver Kammerman
              "September 15, 2011
              ...
Godchilla is on the outs at least until next semester if not longer, so I’m not sure what’s going to happen with that. ..."
Kammerman himself is "Gettin’ it on with a new group called Upstate Rubdown. Super talented girls singing and playing...". There are 2 videos listed for this venture.

There were things I liked and things I didn't so much like with those songs. Nice guitar intros, actually the guitars are good all the way through. Dynamic with the drums and subtle bass. Then a giant bee comes in and farts all over it... I guess it's a trombone? Anyway the horn is very overpowering, but that might just be because it's live. The singer I found to have a bit of a weak voice, but that could also be because it's live and I do realize it does sound a lot better on location than in live recordings. The song I enjoyed the most from them was Empty Spaces.

Haven't listened to it yet, but I downloaded the file, and am now seeding, so if anyone wants the torrent, it's currently up, but may be a little slow until it gets going.

Hmm, don't know what's up with the torrent. I stopped other torrents from seeding for a little while, but my client hasn't put up anything and still shows there not being any peers. Weird, have necessary ports forwarded, and now that other torrents are seeding again, they've all got my upload rate pin at the max again. Good thing I dropped it up on mediafire, then.

The only guy in the band I didn't really know was the bassist, Benji. Other than that, I hang out with Oliver (Vocals, Guitar), Ryan Reutershan (Vocals, Guitar), Nate Gerrard (Drums), and the trombonist Rent. Most of the band is currently doing other projects, as Ryan is down in Chile until January, which makes jamming a bit difficult for them. Seeing them live is a much more entertaining experience. The trombone actually comes out clear (it's sound was an issue thy knew about on this CD), and if I'm seeing them, I help carry in the instruments, so bouncers usually toss me a few free drink tickets for "being in the band."

I don't know if anyone would really be able to get up to New Paltz to see them, but if they play again, I'll post something up here. Buscando (track 7) seems to be their most popular song, where everyone in the venue will sing along. It's also one of their only songs I can think of off the top of my head that has Ryan doing lead Vocals, and his voice definitely has quite a contrast compared to Oliver's.

I'm about halfway through the album, and I'm digging these guys. Strange blend of music. I'm having a hard time getting a grip on it. It's from stuff that's on the periphery of what I listen to, but am not familiar enough to pick the references. The one singer sounds a bit like Mick Jagger :^D

I hope they keep at it, and not drift apart. They have a unique sound, and I bet they're a blast to see live.
