Damn that is a great quote. Nailed it right on the head (bald head in this case).

It's all very well for the Dalai Lama to meditate all day and come out with supposed 'amazing' quotes but let's face it - he doesn't live in the real world i.e. the world that the majority of us inhabit.

I've got two kids. If I don't work I don't have a roof over my head, we eat crap, and we live in rags. In order to give my children a good life - I have to go to work and I have to work HARD. I give my children ALL the emotional support they need as well. YES I worry sometimes about the future, because I bloody well HAVE to - the Dalai f**king Lama does not.

When I die I WILL have lived. I have lived a very full life so far and if I successfully father two well balanced human beings, loved them and taught them how to love, I will have surpassed all that I could have expected.

This guy gets right on my tits with his supposed verbal wonders - what bugs me more is that people swallow this bullshit without questioning it simply because the Dalai pissing Lama said it. It's ok if you live in a Tibetan castle and don't have to work for a living I suppose. I think he's a f**king dick.

To be fair - If I lived like Dalai Lama I'd be bored sh*tless!
If I had the chance to just quit school and live a nice quiet simple life I would, but not sit around meditating. I want a nice life with my own bar or restaurant and nice wife at home... And of course some lovely kids. It ain't all about the money, but if it makes life easier for the people close to me I'd love some
And of course I think about the future! The future is what excites me - dreaming of what might happen later but I never forget the present(How could I? )
Personally I find some of all these super-Existentialistic quotes to be a bit BS, since they hardly apply. I've read Kierkegaard and Sartre and I enjoy their view on existing, but this 'ere Dalai Lama.. He never lived in our world. Hell, he never even laid with a woman or experienced love like we have. He has no clue as to what kind of world we live in. No idea of the pleasure hard work gives - the feeling of the paycheck in your hands isn't just good because you've gotten money. It's good because you've earned the money!
When I die I hope I have lived a full life full of new experiences - unlike him who has mainly experienced sitting in his temple and writing books that the fancy people of the west swallow like they were goddamn written happiness. Like with Frosted - this man gets right on my tits 'cause I doubt he has ever experienced life himself. He'll never, ever, feel the love of a good-hearted woman. It saddens me a bit.

If I were trying to be a downer I would say to remember that the Dalai Lama was the autocratic ruler of a feudal, often brutal medieval kingdom before he was deposed. Tibet was the perfect example of a theocracy with a rigid caste system of government. But that's only if I were a cynical bastard
