Closed on my first home purchase today

Woot! Got a small townhouse in Seattle (proper, of course) with three levels, 2 full bedrooms on top floor each with their own bathroom, and half bath on the main floor, tiny garage and office space and laundry on bottom floor. Small deck and 150 year old birch tree out back. Nothing fancy, but good for city livin', serene, and quiet. I know it's got nothing on most of y'alls plush country livin' with big yards and shit, but I'm happy. It will be a good rental property later. Best of all, it's directly across the street from a huge park that has two play structures, trails, hot springs that people used to lead their weary and injured horses to bathe in back in the late 1800's.... 'twas a good find. Now I have a proper place to raise the baby girl coming in December. Beats the hell out of this crappy one bedroom slumhouse I'm in now. Movin' on up! Thought I'd share with y'all internet homies. Hope all's well.

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

              Congrats bro!

I think I'm destined to rent for the rest of my life lol. Considering I have no credit. Sucks being punished for never having to borrow money honestly.

Thanks everyone! I'm moving on Friday. Lx, lol yeah you're right. Physically my car fits in the gargae, but it's really tight, and the primary driver of said car is the slightly spacial-awareness-challenged mother of my child. So yeah I think it'll be a nice home for the Ruckus. Eric, I don't have much credit either. Had to go the FHA route on the loan. I used a buddy I've known since '94 to process the loan, and the bank ****ed it up majorly at first. I learned a lesson about using old friends for professional services: when things go wrong you can't freak the **** out on them like you could with some unknown professional. Getting a loan these days, when all the banks are over-correcting from the years when they would give a loan to anyone who could fog a mirror, is a total whore. After numerous extensions, I had to miss my grandmother's funeral in order to close late on the 50th day of an already long 45-day closing period. This past week has been super stressful. I must have sent in around 60 letters of explanation and documentation to support things like a $70 deposit to my saving account in May 2010. It's crazy these days. If you're buying now, don't be surprised if you need to submit a letter of explanation for what you had for breakfast yesterday and why.

Congratulations! Perhaps you can invite Seattleite over to help you start a garden.

Congrats bro, sounds like a nice place to live a life and raise a child. Remember that a man's only true legacy is his child and the life they lead. Enjoy your baby Roo, because one day she'll be getting married and you'll wonder where the hell the years went ;-)
