The mods are putting something together now. Please be patient, thanks
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

My fathers wish was was for a small, private service for close family and friends. He never wanted to be a bother to anyone or for anyone to bother over him. And seeing how well liked he was here, you all feel like family to me.

He requested cremation followed by a private burial at his parents grave. Seeing as it is coming into the Thanksgiving week, I asked the funeral director to set the date of the service on the 29th of November. It was the day that he would have had his heart bypass. I felt that if he was going to be surrounded by family and friends to wish him well after the surgery, he should be surrounded by friends and family on the same day to wish him well into the next life. Since we're only having a small church memorial and then the burial right after, we won't have any place to accept flower arrangements. But if you would like, please feel free to donate to www.heart.org. He would have wanted that anyway. He used to say that the toughest part of a funeral, for him, was to smell all of the flowers. That months after a funeral, smelling flowers would only remind him of death.

My mom, though a wreck, never realized how many people cared so deeply about him. She too thanks you all for being there for him and that you all could share in his life.

I know I will never fill his shoes, but I will try my best to be here and share my Snus experiences.

I was at my father's house earlier and I was amazed by all of the Snus he has. There are literally 3 freezers filled with them along with spreadsheets detailing everything he could write about each snus. Even on the front sofa there are unopened packages from various people with huge assortments of snus. Before I left his house, I opened one of the "tins" sitting next to his computer. I believe it was the next snus he was going to post in the "What's in your mouth" thread. It's a tin of Northerner Wintergreen. There are two left in that tin. So I will be sealing that one up and keeping it aside so I can have something of his that he planned on enjoying later that night.

Thank you all again for the well wishes. Now I'm going to try and get more than 2 hours of sleep. I feel like I've aged 10 years in the past week.

I can't tell you how many times I thought about SG today and teared up a bit.

I wish you and the family peace mate.

Try to sleep good tonight Snusoff

Agreed. I have thought of him several times today myself. I have lost many friends and family over the years, but not a forum-mate, and one I admired. Hard not seeing SG posts.

Thank you Snusoff. You don't need to fill his very big shoes, we will let you make your own mark (you already have) and welcome you just the same.

I lost my father 4 years ago just a few months after my wedding. I hadn't seen him for years before that. He got to meet my wife and her parents. I didn't get to come on the board the past couple of days. I was so afraid that I would come on and see this. I'm so sorry to hear this. To some people, all these words are just text on a computer screen. But there was a good man behind that computer screen. Snuson has such a family vibe here, it just hurts to think of anything bad happens to any of us. I'm not a praying man, but I've been thinking about snusgetter a great deal. I'll continue to think of your family.
Again, I'm sorry for your loss.
                        RIP Snusgetter.

I just wanted to add one thing. I don't want to try and make this about me, but I wanted to say that this has really hit me hard. My dad has had some pretty rough heart problems himself. Earlier this year, he had to keep nitro pills on him at all times because the doctor said if he had a heartattack, he probably would have died instantly. He wasn't far from that; he was having chest pains constantly. He eventually had a quadruple bypass a few moths ago. He's doing ok right now, it's such a horrifying sense of helplessness.
Snusoff, the more I think about you and your old man, I could cry. I'm so sorry brother.

My condolences Snusoff. I lost both my parents in
                            recent years. My sympathy.

I have to ask. Was Snusgetter ever confused
                            with the other Arthur Godfrey?

He was, often. I remember back in the early 80's when that Arthur Godfrey passed. My dad was reading the newspaper at dinner and said, "Nothing like looking at the obituaries and seeing yourself listed."

When my dad was a radio broadcaster/programming director, he asked people to just call him "Art." I don't think a day went by, even up till recently, that someone didn't ask him if he was related to the other Arthur Godfrey. So he just stopped telling people his last name. Which when I just found out that most people that knew him here knew him as Art Snusgetter, I thought it was hilarious. I'm sure he loved not getting asked about the radio performer/actor from the golden days of radio and television.

There was actually a contest I won where I guessed Arthur Godfrey. Your dad probably knew the answer but kept quiet, ha.
