    Random Act Of Kindness.....

to help your fellow earthlings. Have you gone to war and saved fellow soilders, worked at a shelter, Offered a foster home to several children, assisted in an emergency room during a large tragic accident or national disaster, saved a life in any way, stopped a rape, done something for the good of one or more people. There are thousands of different circumstances that can be noted.

I'm not referring to loaning your buddy money to save his house kind of stuff. What have you done to help a any group, class, race, religion or? Doesn't have to be that huge a thing but enough where your actions did some real good.

I'm sure we have some special members here. We want to hear your story. You deserve some credit and it helps us get to know more about our good members. It doesn't have to be just one action. Tell us about several or all the times you've been given the opportunity to be "Johnnyonthespot".

....subliminual message the song "Getting To Know You"

    Getting to know you,
Getting to feel free and easy
    When I am with you,
Getting to know what to say

    Haven't you noticed
    Suddenly I'm bright and breezy?
Because of all the beautiful and new
    Things I'm learning about you
    Day by day.

    Getting to know you,
Getting to feel free and easy
    When I am with you,
Getting to know what to say

    Haven't you noticed
    Suddenly I'm bright and breezy?
Because of all the beautiful and new
    Things I'm learning about you
    Day .. by ... day.

Just tell us the true circumstances. Don't embelish and don't hold back. Tell us the way it is. Its your time to let us know what kind of person you are.

I want you to tell us about it and be proud that you were given the opportunity to be there and offer assistance. Be honest and give us details so we can fully understand. This can be a way for you to express your joy of helping out and for some people......a release. I know we have some good people here....we don't want you to be shy about it. We want to know. So we can know you better. Make sense?

@Chad.....giveing a great reacharound doesn't count.....no matter how many men are waiting in line.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

I volunteer once a week as a mental health advocate on a psychiatric ward in Leicester, helping patients with any issues they might have regarding family, money, medication or any on the spot problem they might have. Also providing a listening ear from someone who has been on the ward themselves and knows that people with severe mental health problems are quite often sidelined and have their rights taken from them.

It was a big step for me in April when I applied for the job and went through the training, I hadn't been that well prior to that, but now I have a great feeling of achievement and that I am helping people with their problems, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant they may seem.

Great job mate!! Thats exactly the kind of thing I was getting at. Anyone/everyone let us know how you helped out and the effects, postitive or negative, it may have had on you. Surely we will be reading mostly postive effects.

This thread may not be the most active. It doesn't have to be. Only some of us were at the right place at the right time. And those of us that are older have had more time to accumullate these kinds of experiences. Keep em coming.

@Vulpes, maybe you could go here and lend a hand.

About an hour ago a lady in front of me withdrew £20 from the cash machine, took her card, but left the cash. When i got to the machine it was beeping with her £20 there... i shouted out "excuse me" and gave it back to her. She was in a rush. And thanked me. :-)

Helping in the orphanage was great, so was giving the money back. That was the right thing to do. Bless you

You can't really go out and look for ways to become a hero. The Lord just puts you in the right place at the right time....sometimes. But its up to you to put things in action.

                well done

I spent about 6 months as a volunteer helping people with learning disabilities at art groups at my local college when I lived in Rutland (Raddleman ). It was great fun, and I learned something about myself during that time - that I have at my core a caring and supportive nature. I often forget things like that, as I have issues with self-esteem.

That's good, and you just never know, that £20 could have helped in a matter of life and death. Good for your karma

Many times when you go out of your way to help someone out you actually help yourself more than you realize.

I Dont like people and would with a choice stand up for animals over humans. Although I still eat meat. My Christian upbringing taught me that animals do not have souls but I have come to wonder now whether or not many humans do either.

but never short of giving a stranger a dollar in need. Even if it is being used for crack-rocks or torpedos. Money means a lot but not as much as should to me. If my wife ever got a hold of my spending I would be in big trouble or locked into material things I dont believe I need.

When I meet the mentally challenged in whatever situation I will make the effort to say hello and provide a ear without judgement. IF there is a looney in my presence I always end up in a conversation with them. My amazing gift/curse is having complete strangers unload their emotions on me.

On a more monetary level I help in Church group efforts with dinner for donations to the poor kids of Eastern Europe and taking care of elderly.

I helped police to catch three youngsters who had run away from their school for kids who have behavior problems. Was driving home from work and noticed suspicious guys wondering around the streets, called the police and started pursuiting them. They went inside an abandoned house, called the police again and gave them update of location, they arrived and caught these boys.

I don't do much of anything. I help animals across the road when I see them, and stop to kill badly injured animals. I pretty much like critters. If I see one in trouble, I try to help.
