Has anyone ever received a decent offer from groupon?

I have to admit that I really like the idea of groupon. The idea of paying 1/2 price for something is very appealing but they rarely ever send out offers for products or services that I can actually use. It seems like for every 1/2 off oil change or restaurant coupon I get they offer 10 laser facials or winery tour by Segway coupons. What is the best deal you have purchased on groupon? What is the silliest deal you have seen? I am going to scream if I get another wine offer!

sounds like they're steeply discounting things that people don't want anyways.

The site is nearly identical to LocalDealFinder.com. Same crap for the most part...although Groupon now has a 50 minute helicopter lesson/flight for $130. That's pretty cool 'cos it's like 85 off, but like just about everything else on those sites it's stuff that certainly can qualify as a deal, but even at a ridiculously low rate it's either something that I wouldn't seek out on my own or something that would cause me to spend more money on accessories or buying other things 'cos the "deal" was really just to get you through the door.

I like Woot.com better, but it doesn't do anything for the local area.

My girlfriend buys good restaurant deals off of Groupon all the time. It lets us try places we would normally not go due to the cost. Often times the deals are like $50 off a meal if you spend $100. So you buy the Groupon for $50 and only pay for any costs over $100 at the restaurant.

$10 for $20 worth of goods from Whole Foods was the best one I got. I bought some of the best beer in the world for the price of Coors

I personally love Groupon. I have used them a bunch of times for local restaurants and even bought plane lessons from them once for like $100. They have a cool one right now where you can print any of your pictures on polished metal and since I have really gotten into amateur photography I will probably order it.
It really depends, if they have things that you like than they are a great service, but they do tend to have random deals, i.e. "winery tour by Segway" (hilarious btw lol).
