Look what I found.....I'm not impressed.

Well, most of you guays know that I raise parrots. duh. I found this on the web today. Some of my baby parrots go to resorts, casinos, wildlife parks, TV commercials. I even have some at several major amusement parks. I am not allowed to say which parks but one involves a mouse, another involves a beer manufacturer safari garden in tampa and another involves large seagoing mammals and other critters. Everyday I get inquiries from all over the world from people that want to buy my babies. My preferance is to sell my babies to families and only in the USA. Anyway, heres a link to one of the outfits that has put up videos on youtube of some of my birds. When you go to the link there are several more links for you to check out. Have a look at them.

    http://www.youtube.com/user/Scottr75...23/A1ruy-rUOwg

After viewing these videos all I have to say is that this guy really doesn't have a clue, tho hes is a good guy and loves his birds. The two Blue and Gold Macaws Polynesia and Calipso are my babies. The other birds are not. You will probably notice that of all the birds shown in all the videos these 2 are in the best condition and are beautiful specimens and are the tamest with the nicest personalities. Compare the colors and the feather condition to the other birds shown. I see a big difference. This guy uses treats and a clicker to train his birds. I don't believe in that. My birds preform for me because they love me, period. I have never used treats in any form of training. After I train them verbally I simply tell them what to do and they preform. You will notice in one of the videos that hes trying to get one of my babies to lay on its back. One of the hardest things to train a bird to do is lay on its back. Before I sold Poly and Cal to this guay they both would lay on their back willingly and stay in that postion for maybe 5 minutes or more untill I said "OK". Then they would flip upright again, come up to my face and give me a kiss. This guy has all but ruined these 2 babies imo.

These babies are about 3 years old in the videos. I found out that Poly and Cal are both for sale now because this man really didn't do much to entertain the audiance. I will forego the comment I originally would have said. He doesn't have much of a relationship with his birds and he has to coach them into doing "tricks" with a clicker and food treats. wth.

I thought some of you might like to have a look. While you may enjoy these videos I am quite ashamed that I sold these 2 birds to him. He represented himself as an excellant bird trainer. Hes not. He took 2 birds and ruined them imo. Also, some of the info he gives the audiance is not accurate. He says the big red macaw, the Greenwing is the largest. No way, the Hyacinth is by far the largest macaw. And its the Hyacinth that can snap a broom handle in one bite. The Greenwing can bite and make you bleed but it would take at least a full minute for it to sever a finger. However, if a Hyacinth bit your wrist your entire hand would fall to the ground...with one bite. This guay claims to educate the audiance. With false info? Tho the videos are still interesting.

Because of my health issues, a year or so ago I quit breeding all macaws except the Hyacinth macaws, the most sought after, largest, and expensive of all the macaws, also one of the rarest . I am not an idiot. just sayin.

Why does he pretend the bird rolls over on her own when he's clearly turning her over by her foot? And yeah, I can't see how she would need that much food as reward to act cute.

I want a raven, or at least a crow. I've seen where the crows roost, but they're frustratingly out of reach in the tippy tops of the pine trees.

Do they have good control of their beaks, and realize the kind of pain they can inflict?

Oh I believe that the birds roll over. Just wondered why the "click or treat" trainer couldn't get it to do so without using his hands to roll the bird over. It's no fun if you say your dog can roll over, then just push it over. That would be fun with my cat though. Tormenting her is my favorite passtime.

My cat sleeps on top of me. One of my great joys in life is rolling over when she's fast asleep, and making her tumble off my legs. It never gets old, and never fails to make me smile.

parrots absolutely hate to be on their back. In the wild they only go on their backs when they are about to be eaten. Its tough to get them to do it but I teach them that when they are young. ITs a very submissive postion for them to be in.

I recently decided to keep a baby Hyacinth for myself. If I'm laying down this bird will fly over to me, land on my stomach and instantly roll over on its back so his body is laying next to me with his head in my armpit. He watches me work on the computer that way.

A few weeks ago Rose when out of town. I brought this bird in the house [from the aviary] and put him on a stand in my bedroom. That night we played and cuddled a bit then I put him back on the stand and we both went to sleep. The next morning I must have stirred a bit about 9:00 am. I was still lightly sleeping cuz I heard him fly over to the bed, land and run up too the pillow. He laid his head next to mine on the pillow and settled in. His beak was literally touching my nose. I kept my eyes shut and reached over and petted the back of his head and neck for about 30 minutes. Then I opened my eyes and got my ass out of bed. As soon as my ass lifted off he flew back to the stand. Now whenever I come into my room he watches me. As soon as my ass hits the bed he flys over to me. As soon as my ass gets off the bed he flys back to the stand and stays there......anxiously waiting for me to lay down again so he can cuddle with me. This is a 4 lb bird with about a 5 foot wing span. When he is off of the stand and he has to poop he will fly back to the stand to do his business then fly back to me. Hes so cool. I tell him to give me a kiss and he sticks his tonge out and kisses my cheek. I ask for a hug and he presses the side of his face into the side of mine. etc, etc, etc. He does quite a bit of things and I don't train him at all. He loves me and most of the time it appears that he understands what I say. Hes 13 months old now. Hes also the sweetest parrot I've ever seen.....and I've seen thousands.

Before he did the stuff I mentioned above I was on the fence about keeping him. I was going to sell him and figured I'd keep a baby from a clutch after we move. I went back and forth deciding whether to keep him. I brought him in the house when Rose was away and he convinced me to keep him. Took me a while to come up with the perfect name but I finally did the other day. His name is Isaac. After Abrahams son. IF you know a bit about the bible you will know the connection. I almost sacraficed my boy by selling him. Isaac is my gift from God for all the good I've done for parrots around the world all these years. Its a long story and I'm not going to bore you with it. It probably takes a bird person to understand anyway.

                    Great pics of beautiful birds.

I gave thought to getting a Greenwing or Hyacinth. If I had gotten into birds at a younger age I would have.

                        Thanks for the comp.

contrary to popular belief a domesticly raised macaw and African Greys should live about 40 to 50 years max. Many pass on at around 25 to 30 years from heart issues because they don't fly and get exersize. A Macaw in the wild could live up to 80 years and an African Grey about 50 to 60 if they are lucky. These are my numbers and they are accurate. Published numbers are not nearly as accurate.

Anyway, if you think that a parrot will live 100 years and thats why you don't want one now just throw that idea out the window. However, if you are already 85 years old yourself...you might not want too invest in one. :0

Thats a gift that God sent to me. When I bought her for breeding she was all grey. After she got hormornal and started breeding her feathers turned red and pink. She one of a kind and actually quite famous because of her coloring. I sold her about 2 years ago for about 10 times what I paid for her.

She is an African Grey Timneh, thats a little rarer than the African Grey Congo that most people have. There are several Congos in the world that have some red coloring. They are pretty rare too. But shes the only pinkish Timneh.

You have a keen eye dude.

My parents had an African Grey, two Cockatoo's and one angry green parrot of some sort. Growing up around birds I have a special appreciation for what it takes to be a good companion to them. They take a huge commitment as I'm sure you know much more than I do. We got these birds from folks who for what ever reason decided that they wanted a big ass talking pet and then realized that they are much more than a bird in a cage. My dad was kind of a local parrot rescue guy for a while in the town I grew up in. There are some dumb ass folks out there! I don't think I would ever consider getting one because I couldn't commit the time to treat it right.

One of our cockatoo's loved to give kisses too. It was incredibly sweet and she was a very cuddly bird. It still makes me sad thinking about her and how she still called out for my grandma for years after she died

Mad props to you PP. Doing what you love and being good at it is all anyone could ask for.

Shame on me though for trying to get our birds to say "**** you Carol" (My evil stepmom's name :P) as a kid though.

Parrots can be very loving pets. I have to be very carefull who I sell them to. I refuse to sell to more people than I do sell to. I'm lucky enough to have a great reputation but it took a lot of work to get it. One of my buddies had a cockatoo before I had any birds. Everytime I went to his house his wife would catch me trying to teach it to say **** you. She would get so pissed. I guess that old saying is true....Ainkor.....Great minds think alike. lol

Most of mine say "I love you papa" and "give me a kiss" and crap like that. The scarlet macaw I keep in the bedroom is really smart. When my wife wants to get intimate she reaches over to open the drawer of her night stand for some lube [shes older than hell and needs it]. As soon as that drawer opens the bird starts making female orgasium noises. Its hard to get down to business with the bird moaning away. He gets pretty dam loud too.
