FWC: Jumping Bulldog Causes Rifle to Discharge, Injuring 78- Year Old Pasco Man
ABC Action New ^ A 78-year old man is in the hospital following a hunting accident in Pasco County early this morning.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says that 2 friends and their dog went deer hunting early this morning. They were driving on a bumpy road when their dog got excited and bumped a Browning 308 rifle that was in the truck, causing it to discharge. The driver, Billy Brown of Dade City was shot in the right thigh above his knee.
The accident happened about a mile and a half into the woods from the intersection of Old Pasco Road and Gillette Road.
Brown was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital. As of 6 pm. hospital officials said Brown was out of surgery and in critical condition.
Investigators say the two men have been hunting together for over 25 years.
The investigation is still underway.
