    Donations

Christmas is a good time to kick some money over to the people who produce things you value. Browser addons, free software, fighting for your rights... a little bit can go a long way if enough people participate. Maybe take $20, and spread it around. $2 for a browser addon, $5 for a music player... It all helps, and lets the developers know their work is appreciated. I already sent $5 to the developer of DeaDBeeF, my favorite GNU/Linux music player, and I bought the Humble Indie Bundle which supports charity, and indie game developers. I'm also considering some of these...

Electronic Frontier Foundation - Fighting for your rights in the digital age.

Free Software Foundation - Promoting the cause of free software worldwide

Mozilla - Champions of the open web. They almost singlehandedly wrestled the web away from Microsoft. It would likely be a very different internet today if not for Mozilla.
    http://www.mozilla.org/

Wikipedia - A great resource, I use all the time. They get all their funding through donations, and run an ad free site out of principle.

Another way of support is buying crap from them. I'd like a stuffed gnu signed by RMS. I think they'd do that if I asked, but I don't really have that much money. It would still be cool though, and I may do it.

Anyway, give it some thought. If everyone left it for "the other guy", these great resources could cease to exist.

I 100% endorse this. I always click on that donate button for things I use and value like Adblock, Reddit Enhancement Suite, Noscript etc. Even snuson has received cash from me before. Just like helping small businesses, we need to help small software developers because what they do is akin to building you a car and giving it to you for free and then saying "just take it for free or pay what you can". They provide something useful and you can decide the price, this is everything the internet stands for and everyone should take $20 and divy it up amongst the various useful freeware/opensource things you use on a regular basis or have derived value from.

Listen to the song in the video while you read..

For just 5 dollars a day, less than the cost of your morning coffee you can he a sponsor of a programmer in dire need. Your donation will go far in their lives. A months supply of hot pockets and Monster energy drinks, their clothes washed on a regular basis since their mothers are tired of doing it, suggestive posters of anime girls for inspiration just for starters. With your donation you will receive a picture of a programmer you can keep as a reminder of how your donation is changing his or her life.

You can even give a one time donation. Please, give a voice to those who don't have the means without your help.

lxskllr, as a software engineer and programmer I salute you sir... I'll be posting my Paypal info so everyone here at Snuson can donate to my cause... I'm going to start a non profit no kill shelter for lost coders and wayward hackers... Eric I always love your sense of humor we really should meet at Starbucks for a cup of espresso and a pinch sometime...

Nomad, sounds like a plan brother! You are the one who opened the snuff door for me so that espresso is on me of course.
