    Any pilots around?

I'm wanting to start taking lessons to get my license and looking for tips.

I'm in the process of getting an ultralight right now because I will prob never be able to afford a larger plane but I'm just looking for help.

Wait, so you are buying an airplane before you have your license? I would recommend getting the license first, then going for an aircraft. I priced getting licensed in my area and it was about $5,000 for the flight time. Someday...

You do not need a license to fly an ultralight.

Yea ultralights aren't even considered experimental because of the weight so you could build your own and fly it without an FAA inspection.

I am certain that there are pilots on this forum. I have seen lots of posts about getting high.

My dad used to fly ultralights. Ima get a two seater and just learn from him. I've flown before just not landing by myself.

Before you ever sit in the left seat find a copy of the book Stick & Rudder by Wolfgang Langewiesche. Best tutor for the prospective pilot, or veteran for that matter, ever written. It explains why and how airplanes really fly and no it ain't got nuttin' to do with some guy named Bernoulli.

That's what I did years ago. The first time I drove a stick was during a test drive.

You may not technically need a formal FAA license but you do need to know how to fly. Less training may be involved but its a long way from zero.
