I have used probiotics when taking antibiotics. I used to get really sick to my stomach from antibiotics but found out about probiotics and they really helped.
Right there with you Wicked, although I wouldn't say I "love the stuff". I pound 4 to 5 tbs of that crap every single night before bed. Chronic constipation rules my life. IBSFTW!
I've found in my travels that a completely dairy-free, wheat-free diet, as can be found in Southern China and SE Asia, eliminates my problems almost entirely. As much as I love the cuisines of that region, it's a serious pain in the ass to replicate here on an all-day, everyday basis, and dammit I love Western food too. So I use the orange sludge to deal with it. My Dad and my maternal grandmother both have this problem, so I really got the genetic shaft in the pooping department. Fun times.
Yeah, I found dairy mostly "cheese" will constipate my bowels but definately do have the randomness of IBS either way.
I take half a teaspoon of the metamucil every other day and it helps with regularity. Never tried probiotics from pills but drink this stuff. Not sure if it is working or I have fallen for a marketing gimmick.
