A Korean man won’t get off easy after trying to smuggle nearly 63 pounds of an erectile dysfunction drug through LAX.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents seized seized the drugs Sunday Los Angeles International Airport.
The substance, known as tadalafil – the generic form of Cialis – was in several heat-sealed pouches in the carry-on luggage of a 40-year-old Korean man, U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman Jaime Ruiz said.
The chemicals were valued at $179,000, he said.
“The passenger claimed the powder was a Chinese herb,” Ruiz said.
Approval is required to introduce a new drug into interstate commerce, he said.
