    First tattoo :S

I'm getting my first tattoo soon but it hurts like hell. I have atopic skin, and it hurts like hell.
Those of you that have a tattoo, did you use anything for it to not hurt? I would drink a bottle of jack daniels, but it would just make the blood flow more

After getting it use some body creme to moisten it, Eric would recommend boy butter but look for something really greasy, I used Helosan.

Nope, just sat through it and put some vitamin A and D cream on it after. Was fine.

If you're getting your first tattoo soon, how do you already know it hurts like hell? I do not have a tattoo, so I have no idea how much it hurts.

By testing a tattoo gun on my skin, when there is no paint.

Lmao I was about to say the same thing.

One thing I've noticed is everyone disagrees on tattoo aftercare. What I do is use bacitracin the first day then non scented moisturizer after. I've noticed recently people waking around with saranwrap covering the new tattoo. I thought it was strange I never saw that back in the day.

Get a local... with an injection of Lidocaine you won't feel a thing.

Every tattooist I've been too has recommended a different aftercare regime, it's baffling.

In answer to the original question, I've always just sat through mine. Some hurt more than others, depending on location and artist. After a while you just zone out, go with the flow and enjoy the endorphins.

                      Is your skin like that?

                          got three tattoos myself ;-)

Gotta tell you one thing - Alcohol is great but you need to be almost drunk basically to not feel a thing and I wouldn't recommend getting drunk while getting a tattoo especially if there's a lot of work to be covered....

There's quite a few local injections to take the pain away but usually tattoo saloons don't use them - get some in the pharmacy...

I've got two tattoos on my chest and one on my lower back that is pretty large - the worst parts of the body to get a tattoo are the back and chest :-)

If it's a big tattoo make sure to take breaks ... don't let the guy tattoo you for hours in a row ... I was about to faint when I had my last tattoo ... I had nausea and felt really sick.... because of too much pain lol

I think technically it's illegal to give a tatt to someone who is drunk.
