I put in my two week notice and never felt better!!

I recently resigned from a long time job.

    The feeling is amazing.

I'm sure I'll wind up eating cat food out of a can- huddled in the corner of an empty room in a few months, but the pain of staying far outweighed the thought of leaving.

    Life's too short!!

    YAY!!

Congrats Baker! I love quitting jobs. I've been at my present one for 5 years now... it's decent but I really look forward to quitting day. Did you line up another?

Honestly I've been so ground down and burned out for the past year I couldn't think clear enough to apply for one.

I only knew my life depended on getting off the carousel of insanity and regaining my equilibrium.

I had been working 6 days a week for almost 12 years and didn't recognize myself in the mirror any more.

IMO, you made the right move! Relax, get refreshed and renewed then go out and get a job you will enjoy.

Good man! I've been at my job for 9 years now, and ever day I dream of telling where they can stick their sorry ass micromanaged beurocratic shit job. I just have a new house and 6 month old daughter to par for. My time is coming though.
I'm happy for you man! Happy for anyone that gets out from under a shot job.

Wow, that would be my biggest nightmare.

Glad that you are dealing well with your actual situation.

I'm lying if I said that sometimes I don't think how good it would be to have a few months just to relax, but then I fall into reality again. I have the same job since 1995 (thank god or someone like him)

I feel for you and congrats man.

I've been in the food business for right at 21 years I know the feeling. I love the folks I work for and with but if you tally how many hours I've worked so far I'd be sitting at 86% of a normal work career in hours worked (42 years typical career, from 23 to 65, 8.4 hours per day average for men so average of 86,436 total counting vacation time). I work on average 70 hours a week and have for 21 years. That puts me right at about 75,000 hours worked so far.

The good thing about my situation is that my kids are almost grown. I have a 20, 18 and 16 year old so I'll be sitting at 40 years old and not having to worry about paying for school clothes, school lunches, medical bills for them and all of those fun things. Of course there will be some expenses relating to the little soul sucking leeches, but it should be much more manageable than being full time parents to 3.

In all seriousness I love the hell out of my kids but I am looking forward to relaxing and slowing down a bit once they are done cooking. My wife and I are working on saving now so that we can set up a traveling art show for street fairs across the country. She paints, I take pics and print to order prints of her paintings out of a trailer. Should be an interesting living!

Congratulation baker! Life's too short to hate it. You only get one pass, and if all you have to show for it is a job you hate, you squandered your chance.

My job pays for the roof over my head and food for my family. I'm doing pretty well have been offered advancement but I declined. With the bonus I make every month combined with the hours I work I'm right about what the managers make without the stress and extra workload. I Kay decide to do it one day but for now I'm fine. They are sensitive to my medical needs which is a plus.
