I don't usually settle for instant coffee. So yeah when I'm at home I always have at least some in the morning, but not what I consider to be an excessive amount, and I don't consider myself dependent on it based on 1 to 3 week periods I've experience without it.

Same here, about 12-16 oz of bold coffee each work day, on weekends I don't drink coffee. Don't notice anything bad happening on the weekends when I don't drink it. I took off a week from work last month and didn't drink any coffee and never noticed anything. No reason to quite for me, I think it only gets bad if you are drinking like a pot of coffee a day.

Thanks a lot guys for all your answers! I'll see what I do. I do love my coffee so it would suck to completely give it up. It would be fun to try and raise my tolerance to hell and see how it would effect me then, but it would also be fun to see how I would feel without coffee. Although, coffee seems to be very healthy, so completely giving it up wouldn't maybe be the best idea after all!

The only side effect I get is a bad stomach, but it's only during the morning. But somehow my tolerance is a bit too high so I don't get too much of a hit from one cup, and I can't drink more than one cup at a time so maybe that's why I dont have a habit yet. Have you tried caffeine free coffee? If it's the coffee that you really need.

Btw, now when we're into caffeine. Last week I tried this energy drink called "Spike" which has almost 4x more caffeine than a regular Red Bull, jesus.. does work But I guess it's not worth drinking those because of the health risks. A big no-no for the heart.

I love coffee and it would be very hard for me to stop drinking it. I recently swore off energy drinks and that was hard for me. Never tried spike but RED-Line energy drinks are really strong

no body mentioned decaf, in case you miss your coffee, drink decaf that's basically just like driking a smootie :-)

other than that, the caffeine withdrawal is nasty shit, I've been through it twice last year.............

              No coffee?!

I would suggest the same: switch to a decaffeinated or low-strength blend of coffee.

Some decafs used to make my stomach hurt. I guess it was the way it was processed. I don't trust the stuff. It's like denicotinated snus; an abomination :^D

The same people that would buy decaffeinated coffee :^P

I never heard of such a thing, but it should be possible. I like the stuff I use to be authentic, whatever that means for a particular case. Minimally processed, and traditional. I've never had a decaf coffee that tasted great, They've ranged from terrible to tolerable, but knowing it was adulterated would make it taste worse to me. It's like seeing a "Made in China" sticker on the bottom of a new toy. Regardless of how well it's designed and made, that sticker makes me enjoy it a bit less. If I had to quit caffeine, I'd just switch to herb tea. They aren't coffee, but at least they're true to their nature, and that makes them taste better :^)

Personally i would get yourself down to 1-2 cups of coffee per day and then drink yerba mate tea or find some other such replacement you enjoy even regular tea to have as a supplement. That's what i do anyway, it works great.

I have tried decaffeinated coffee but it tastes rather shitty. It's like nicotine free snus indeed. What's the point? I could imagine drinking it in the evenings, but I'd rather skip it. If I drink coffee I want it to be caffeinated.

I'm on my second cup of coffee right now btw. I don't feel like I care anymore. My consumption is so low it can't really be a problem. If I were to drink tens of cups per day, then I could imagine quitting or cutting down something to think about. But 1-2 cups? Nah...

I might change my mind again though, haha. But if I should cut down on something, I think it will be the snus. I have gotten my third snufforder today, so now I have a shitload of it. My snus consumption has also gotten very low now compared to before. I don't really use strong snus now either. 8 mg works good.

Here I am in the evening wanting to quit again. Haha. I don't get it... when I drink coffee, I feel good a few hours after I've drunken it, but when the caffeine levels starts decreasing, I start to get jittery, irritable, and out of energy. I don't know if it has something to do with the fact I've been sitting in a very non-ergonomic position all day in front of my laptop with nothing else to do. Hm... Maybe I should try making my cups smaller. One sip of coffee would actually do in the morning. It's that satisfaction and taste that I like, which really a few small sips would take care of.

                            FML, haha

I've tried drinking tea during the days, but I find it to be quite boring. Don't get me wrong, I love tea, but it's best in the evening or when sick IMO. I heard though there's a tea called "Teechino" in the US, which supposably is a great tasting alternative to coffee, but of course it isn't available in Sweden.
