Chai latte is good. The problem though is the sugar/cream is too much for all day use.

I really like chai tea and chai lattes as well, but yes, the lattes are waaaaay to sweet. Almost nauseating. What is kind of boring about drinking tea all day is that it's like flavored water. I want something more robust than that. But I think I'll start making my cups' o' joe' smaller. Can't hurt huh?

F it... I will try to quit. I have a can of Thunder Coffee Supreme and Wow! Coffee Bite to get me through the cravings.

The question is... should I start tomorrow? It's now 2 AM and I have to get up at 8 AM... I will be dead tired, and even more of a wreck without coffee. Hm, we will see. If not tomorrow, then I'll try the day after and do it for like a month or so to evaluate the effects.

I used to love my coffee. I had at one point 3 expresso machines,a couple French presses, grinders, percolators, etc you name it in the house. I'd seek out the strongest grinds I could find, stuff that most people would ask if they could water down. I finally quit a few yrs ago after putting 2+2 together. I was checking my BP at home usually right after waking up and then in the evening and it was always fine but at my doctor appointments it would usually be in the hypertension range. What was the difference? My appointments were always mid-morning after I'd been sucking down coffee. And usually drinking it on my way there.
I drink tea which I think has about 1/3 the caffeine of coffee but I still miss it. Just decided the long term effects weren't worth it.

ETA Years ago a friend had quit smoking and was telling me he really missed those 5-6 cigs with his coffee in the morning. I said "what you only have one cup?" Glad I quit that too.

Nah, sounds like coffee isn't worth it for you! Good that you quit! I see it this way, having one addiction (nicotine) is enough!

I have read through the web and have stumbled upon a lot of people who has experienced exactly the same things I do when combining coffee and snus. Some say they can't for the love of god combine the too or they will get violent panic attacks, feel terrible etc.

So no coffee for me today! I had half a cup of green tea, but that will be enough for today I think.

What I've realized is, I sleep bad when drinking coffee, get tired when I wake up, drink more coffee during the day, can't sleep the next night either, and the cycle continues. Often when I've had coffee all day, I wake up in the middle of the night, and can have very strange dreams. And when I'm awake I'm often jittery and uncomfortable physically. Not a pleasant way of living life. Eliminating coffee I feel is a small sacrifice for better well-being.

If anyone's interested I can report the progress in this thread.

whilst it may be true, you can get panic attacks from coffee alone, adding more nicotine will only worsen the attack.

While I have a mild anxiety (only had panic attacks twice) I never got panic attacks from using snus and coffeee....... but it might happen though in more sensitive people.

Green tea has theine which is the same thing as caffeine.

Coffee seems to affect me way worse than nicotine alone. Combining the two seems to have some very strange effect on me. I don't have panic attacks though, but I've experienced a few in my life (all when I started snusing and drunk coffee). What bugs me is the feeling of restlessness, drowsiness, tiredness and jitteriness all at the same time after a day of coffee and snus. I think I've built this up during the years, adding mental and physical tension. I've been a coffee addict since I was 12-13, and with cigarettes it was not a problem at all for me, but adding snus to the equation seems to make me much more sensitive to caffeine. One cup feels like five cups.

My friend felt the same well as well, and he has quitted both coffee and snus (he uses snuff though), and has reported feeling extremely calm and peaceful.

Green tea contains very little caffeine, and things like L-theanine, which helps reduce stress, so green tea is not something you necessarily want to avoid.

I feel very relaxed now as well actually. I hope I don't get any headaches.

I am drinking 4 officially measured cups in the morning and about 3 in the afternoon.

THis is the size of my thermus container and a medium sized store bought coffee in the afternoon. I am happy with that.

I have quit coffee numerous times. It's not fun. The headaches tend to go away after about a week, but the cravings don't stop for 2 months.

In the end, it is worth it - you have much more energy.

I have as well, and all of the times I've felt dead tired and have had brutal headaches. Today, nothing. A little tired though, but I get tired from coffee as well.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I've read about people quitting, and all say they have much more energy than before. Perhaps not a higher peak of energy, but a more steady one without ups- and downs. Plus, better sleep, clearer thinking, easier to focus on one assignment etc.

I'll try it for a month and report back!

Agh... today I feel worse. I feel the headaches coming on, and I almost can't focus on the computer screen because I'm so tired. Oh well.

Btw, an addiction to caffeine is almost in my opinion comparable to nicotine... this is starting to get brutal.

EDIT: Had to make myself a cup of weak black tea. lol

Crap! I walked around in a mall today and felt all dizzy, super tired and had a massive headache. I went and bought a cappuccino... haha! Oh well, back to it tomorrow again.

I may have missed it, but what is the reason you are giving up caffein? Doctor mandated?

Nah, just that coffee has started to affect me negatively together with snus. I feel weird and end up jittery and tired at the same time a couple of hours after my cup (usually in the evening or late in the day) as the effects wear off, and can get problem sleeping even after just a cup in the morning. It's strange since I didn't get that effect with cigarettes, but I have heard there are lots of others experiencing this problem combining snus and coffee. When I didn't snus or smoke, coffee had no effect on me except for lots of positive ones.

A guy (jimderson410) over at Gosmokeless wrote this about effects of nicotine:

"If I'm tired, it wakes me up. If I'm awake, it makes me a little tired. Since I've been using nicotine for so long, it doesn't have a noticeable on me except with caffeine. I can't do the caffeine and nicotine like yall can. I like my coffee and my dip/snus but not together haha. Makes me feel awful."

The same thing happens to me, and I can't understand why. Hm... It sucks that I have to give it up, but what the... I'll threat myself with it occasionally, as it probably is meant to be used!

Heders, if you want to find tea more interesting you could try going here:

                                http://www.teachat.com/

I read some folk on there quit coffee with tea or cut down coffee with tea.
