Göteborg 2012 7th-9th Feb

Me and Ansel have just come back from a short but action-packed trip to Göteborg. We were made to feel very welcome there, and the weather wasn't too cold, we even sat outside a café to enjoy a pris of Ettan lös with some decent coffee. Heaven.

Yesterday was the main day to get stuff done and see some stuff. Lots of walking, good food, good coffee, and Swedish beer. Obviously no snusers trip to the city is complete without a pilgrimage to Snus2, in Datavagen just outside the centre. When we'd walked quite a distance to get there from the bus, negotiating ice and random Amsterdam-like cyclists, we arrived and were like kids in a sweetshop! Lots of cool products to try out and look at. (bearing in mind that we're both from the UK and Swedish Match is a b**ch to get hold of here).

There was a comedy moment when the RyanAir plane touched down and there was a fanfare to let us all know we'd managed to land without incident. Funny.

Yeah, 3kg is about right. I reckon i'll be sorted for about 1/3 year. Then......who knows lol.

£550 is about what I spent, after a rough tot-up. That includes travel to Stansted, flights, 2 nights in single room with 2 breakfasts, food and drink, and all the snus.

I have done the trip 3 times now twice with ryan air btw the fanfare is only played if they land on time. I am still using the snus from my last trip I have calculated that you can get a years supply of snus in 2 trips.

So 4 more trips to sweden should see me through to the end of 2014 when the snus ban should be lifted. I brought back a little over 5kg in each of my trips.

I'm on the Isle of Wight so i need to account for period return tickets on the boat, and train. If i get around 60ish cans, it might be around the same price as your trip, if i got the amount you did, add an extra 100 quid i'd say. Enjoy your SM you lucky sod i've only got a few cans in the freezer

I didn't factor in the 2 bags of chew and pipe baccy in that estimate btw. Maybe we could organise a trip for summer, I'd be game.

I would be up for a trip in the Summer to Stockhom. you can ryan air to an airport about a 1hr bus ride from Stockholm. Hotels are expensive in Stockholm I treated myself and stayed in the Scandic last time however it is about £100 per night.

I have been introduced to a friend of a friend who can fix me up with somewhere to crash next time I visit. I can find out if he can accommodate more. If on a snus run I would happily crash on the floor.

I would say a visit specifically to visit the tobacco museum is enough incentive to go to Stockholm. as you know you can get the ettan, grov and rapé kardus and their food is excellent.

I love it. I wanted to complement my snus with another product, but I struggle with nasal snuff (I get easily congested) and vaping (e-cigs) messes up my lungs as well as providing far too much nic when combined with snus.

Sooooo... I gave redman a go, they sell it at Snus2 (obviously, but I mean online). But not before I did my homework with TSNA levels and how it is cured etc. I like the fact it's made under the umbrella of SM too

What's it like? Well, if you're expecting anything like salty lös, you'll be way off the mark. I'm no expert in US chew or dip, but I gather chew tobacco is soaked in sweet-tasting syrup (called casing), and caters to the American palette (duh!). I love it as an occasional alternative to my snus, there is nothing like a fat cheek full of chew, and spitting in a mudjug!
