I sit in a cell for 8 hours a day. No window with temperatures ranging from freezing to as hot as sitting in a kiln. All day I am barraged by psychological abuse from other inmates since I am not allowed to speak my mind freely for fear of being taken out. Daily I am forced to use my creativity at speeds and workloads unheard of from other creative prisons from my past. There is no escape because the halls and grounds are continually monitered by the prison camp guards who walk around with sheer spite and can make men twice their size turn into babbling, trembling children. Many of the inmates crave to be like the guards and will sell you out just to get a little closer to the upper hierarchy. You have to constantly watch your back and actions to not raise any suspiscion that you are actually human.

Many tell me I am lucky to be in this prison and I do have a family so that is what has kept me alive all these years.

Yard is for one hour at 1pm

I am air operations director for a tour company with offices in Seattle, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kiev, Irkutsk, Ulan Ude, and Tashkent. We send people on expensive guided tours to unusual places. Tajikistan, Mongolia, Iran, Turkmenistan, Belarus, Moldova... and not so unusual places like Russia, Poland, Estonia, Latvia... all kinds of places. My job is to get them there.

        so.....you drive a bus?
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Very interesting (and occasionally amusing) thread.

I'm an editor for a electronic publishing company. Despite my firm being a major player in the industry, for the most part our brand recognition is limited to librarians and other research geeks. But given the sad state of the global economy, I'm just grateful to be gainfully employed.

That's just a Mon morning rant from somebody who would rather be working on my own art and own terms.
I work as a designer/photographer for a smaller company. Honestly, the actual job is great but the culture could be little more worker friendly.

Wishful thinking in todays market with more productivity with less attitude.

I'm a graphic designer. Flyers, posters, postcards, banners, signage, newsletters, email blasts, general photoshop trickery, web site graphics and updates, Ad designs, video editing, power point templates, landing pages.. etc. Part time for a company, part time contract/freelance. Gives me the freedom to earn a modest living/benefits but still work on and choose projects that excite me (even if they don't pay that well) in my free time. I venture to guess truthwolf can understand how freeing the part-time for someone else, part-time for myself schedule could be.

It's a lot of hurry up and wait for the revisions which people will give to you a week or two later and almost always a few hours before it needs to go to the printer.... For every two days of solid concept and design work.. I spend at least one day updating, tweaking, revising and changing 10-15 things I did two weeks before. I don't possess any other marketable skills though, so i'm fortunate to be able to do it for a living.

                    I am a chef.

I work for a large corporation.

One day I will work in a small bistro where I have creative control.

But now as a single dad I need corporate 9-5 type hours.

Currently I'm working as a Service Manager at an industrial laundry plant. The job is like time travel. I work 55 to 60 hours/week and time simply evaporates. The benefits are good but the workload is simply impossible. I do enjoy the job and there isn't one thing about it that's terribly difficult...the challenge is keeping all the plates spinning. The amount of product processed at this place is mind boggling.

I was a home improvement Sales Manager for years before that though. I bad chain of events brought on by this economy thing forced a change in careers. I'm looking at getting back into that industry again though. The lifestyle is much better there.

well.......since this thread has gone terribly on topic so far I suppose I'll contribute honestly. I have a back ground in electronics. Studied how to design computer circuitry [not put them together]. That was back in the 60's and very early 70's. Who knew computers would be in every home. I worked in the electronic field for a short time. I saw more money being made in construction at the time so I started my own busness very quickly. In the end I had 16 remodeling crews, a big warehouse and all the freaking headaches in the world. Most all my clients were quite wealthy and/or well known and referrals flowed freely. The last 15 years that I was in construction I never gave an estimate, passed out a business card, or wrote up a contract. I charged what I wanted to when the job was done. We were reputable, everyone was happy and I always got paid. I started breeding the parrots about 30 years ago for something to do when I retire. The breeding went wild and my reputation skyrocked to where I could charge what I wanted and set my own terms. I retired from construction when I was about 48 and just bred the birds which is really easy if everything is set up properly. It really wasn't a job IMO. I was diagnosed with some nifty heart problems several years ago and the doc told me to go home, get my affairs in order, get rid of the birds and move to a warmer climate as my heart is at risk in cold weather. I sold most of them and I still have a few of the expensive pairs so I have some income. We currently live on my investments and my wifes job. I set my wife up in a preschool/daycare business over 20 years ago and shes still at it....untill we move, then she retires. After we move and we get settled I will have all my affairs in order. I suppose I'll pass away then. Hence the reason I'm not in too big a hurry to get moved and get everything in order, although we have to get out of this big place soon. Its just too much maintaince and expense.

My short answer to the title of the thread is "nothing". But I'm buzy all the freaking time. wth

Thanks for your concern, I know the members would be concerned as to where my snus ends up. lol.
I'm not dead yet, nor do I plan on going anytime soon. It was a big surprize to me tho. I was just at the doc 2 weeks ago and nothing has gotten any worse. But I'm still a walking heart attack.

I know some of you that were paying attention over the last few years knew some bits and pieces but I figured I needed to explain how my answer to the question could be so simply put as "nothing". I'm done working my ass off.
