Joint Statement by the Delegations Assigned to Probe Bagram Incident
    Saturday, 25 February 2012 09:02

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate

Following the insulting and shameful act of burning Quran in Bagram airbase that injured the religious sentiments of the Islamic world and particularly of the Afghan Muslim nation, two delegations comprising of representatives from government, the National Council of Ulemma and the National Assembly were assigned and dispatched to investigate the circumstances and causes that have led to the inhumane incident.
The delegations, while deeply touched by the religious sentiments shown by the Afghan Muslim and Mujahid nation, inform our citizens of the following:

    1. In view of the particular security situation in the country, we call on all our Muslim citizens of Afghanistan to exercise self-restraint and extra vigilance in dealing with the issue and avoid resorting to protests and demonstrations that may provide ground for the enemy to take advantage of the situation.

    2. After the shameful incident by the US soldiers stationed in Bagram, senior NATO and American officials expressed their deep apologies to the Muslim nation of Afghanistan and assured that such incidents will not happen again.

    3. NATO officials promised to meet Afghan nation’s demand of bringing to justice, through an open trial, those responsible for the incident and it was agreed that the perpetrators of the crime be brought to justice as soon as possible.

    4. The assigned delegations demand from the government of Afghanistan to take over from the Americans the authority of the Bagram prison so no such incidents can recur and calls on the US government to fully and comprehensively cooperate to this end.

    5. The delegations also want from the Afghan government to formally praise those brave Afghan army soldiers and all others who showed feelings against the disrespectful act by preventing more religious books and Quran copies from burning, so that the pure Muslim sentiments of our honored Mujahid nation can remain alive.

Amen to that. Don't care if it's in some book, it being written down doesn't make it any more legit than the newest Twilight saga...

Burning books, regardless of content is a sin. That's the preoccupation of ignorant pigs. They fear knowledge, and ideas, and futilely try to erase it from existence.

I don't know all the facts and I don't care about religious books either but...

            They do care about Koran..

Knowing that why do american soldiers burned them?

            Disrespect? Complex of superiority?

I would like to see those soldiers went to Vatican and burned some Bibles in Saint Peter Square during a Pope speech.

This kind of attitudes should be banned and severilly punished. If they are men enough to carry a gun a kill human beings I believe they should be men enough to be responsible for their stupid actions.

This kind of actions are degrading America image and they should be punished for that too.

They will push it as far as those military dollars will go and shape the propaganda so a slight majority will always believe in the delusional mission.

                Great picture Lx!!!

                and I agree.

However, I thought they were burning the book not because it was the koran........but because it had encrypted codes written in the margins and between the lines and they were using the book to pass these messages along to other conspirators. That I don't have a problem with

Yep, Lets fall for the propgoanda so the AMerican sentiment becomes treating returning vets like absolute shit like what happened in the Vietnam era. F every single politically person in the world. F-Them, then F them again.

How quickly everyone forgets the 2 burning towerrs that collapsed to the ground.

Much MUCH worse shit happens in war. Stuff happens in war that is punishable by death outside of war. Sorry, stories of buring a holy book should not even be reported, let alone given the attention its being given. Just what the Muslims wanted to achieve is happening.

Once again, F-THEM ALL. ANd screw political correctness. This world needs to get over itself BIGTIME.

                    How about this instead

The United States government released a statement on Monday................Stop defiling your holy books with codes of violence..........and we will no longer have the need to cleanse your defilement from their pages with fire.

That said...............we should have never been there in the first place...............Remember the WHOLE mid-east mess started with European arrogance after WWI when the allies divided up the fallen Ottoman Empire among themselves with no regard to existing tribal, Ethnic, or religious demarcations………….but only their own competing national interests

Burning books was popular during WW2.

The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have killed more Americans than all the Muslim attacks put together. I'm no fan of any religion, and Islam is close to the top of my shit list, but the way to answer it is ignore it. We brought our troubles on ourselves, and need to look internally for the solution.

Exactly, I don't see how people are surprised when being attacked when having troops in a country like those you listed. Or in any other country, just look at North Ireland and the IRA.

I personally don't see muslim funtamentalists worse than jewish and christian fundamentalists, they are all same people.

The Americans that were and are being killed in these two wars are occupying forces, I'm more concerned about the countless innocent men women and children that have died as a result, some estimates put those figures in the millions.American lives are not worth more than other human beings.

That's the point. Even if you only count Americans as important, we're running a deficit on the "pay off". The ledger looks much worse if you count everyone.
