Second Solar Flare to hit Earth Today

    http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/su...0712-X5-4.html

It's worth keeping an eye on these buggers. This one is a reasonably big one but it's going to hit us directly. We'll soon see if it takes out any power.
Looks like this and next year are going to be interesting for solar flares.

Looks like we might get some time off of work to go hunt for gas.

I couldn't go to work today - kept getting burned. I opened the door to the postman this morning and there was just this pile of ash.

I have read this has only been a G1 so far, and the only thing that needs ot be done is some flights over the north pole need to be diverted. I have also heard to watch the sky tonight, as some of the particles making contact with the Earth's magnetic fields will produce nothern lights that might be able to be seen as far south as the Northern states. I will be watching. But yea, so far, this solar storm has been mostly hype, and way weaker than they thought it would be.

I wouldn't worry, this one is smaller than the one that hit 7 years ago. Unless you are a sattelite it's not going to be a big deal. Even NASA said they weren't doing anything special to protect astronauts from the extra radiation.
