Got the Roberts Stream 105. It's flipping great :-)

Anyone else got a standalone internet radio?

My experience with DAB reception was never that good.

It looks ok i guess, i wouldn't get one, well i might if i had a ton to spend on a radio, but i don't! The last radio i got was a Sony shortwave world band receiver ICF-SW7600GR. I've never been so impressed with any of my radios over the past 30 or 35 years as I am with this one! Something about shortwave radio i just love, and you can fine tune the Sony in steps of 1 kHz. Also, add the single side band, both upper and lower side bandands, it's great for radio hams. I love finding really weak signals and homing in on them. Best radio i've ever had ...

It looks like a nice radio. I've looked into getting a standalone internet radio, but I just don't have the need for it right now.

I have a lifetime subscription to SIRIUS Satellite Radio (Premier) with free internet access. I have the service established in my vehicle, and I use the internet feed at home, and on the go.

I've had this radio for 5 years and it still works great, and it sounds great. Also, the music channels are completely free of advertisements.

I know the feeling. I have a Grundig Satellit 700:

It's capable of receiving AM/FM, Shortwave, Mediumwave, and Longwave. Tons of features.

I've just got an amazing wind-up 9 band shortwave set made by Eton. It doesn't have fine-tune, but the skill in tuning with a big knob is what I remember from being a kid.

Anyway - this radio below is the one I listen to in the kitchen. It was my great-grandfather's, it's a Bush VHF61 made in the 1950s and the tone from the speaker is amazing. I gave her a new valve the other week as she'd blown one, good as new now. The little window with the green light in is called the "magic eye" - it lights up when there's a signal.

I would say a few years off and on. I haven't played with it lately, but you've given me the inspiration to start back up!

When I do use it, I can fool around with the dial for hours at a time. Lots of fascinating stuff to be found!
