I've been wrong lots of times. Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Originally posted by lxskllrThat could backfire. I don't have faith in others' good intentions. They could use that as an excuse to get rid of him. "One of the customers complained about your performance. We're gonna have to let you go". Truth is irrelevant when dealing with mouth breathing managers who think way too highly of themselves. I was avoiding Walmart, but I may start stopping in more often and keep an eye on that guy. I'm sure I could source a picker pretty easily, and just give it to him. That way no one would have to know anything, and he'd get extra points for taking initiative to improve his performance.

Harvest Fair - Locally owned, and a peculiar mix of of food. From absolute bottom end, to extra premium, all mix matched on the shelves. Prices are a bit higher than average, but they have a lot of local brands, and they're locally owned.
Redners - Employee owned, decent prices, and a large selection. Again, they carry many MD foods.
Giant - Union shop, highish prices, but excellent quality on everything. Great natural foods selection.
Back to the original point... This guy may not need help. I just had a small snapshot of his day, and my brain went into overdrive. Walmart is very close, so I can check before acting. I wouldn't want to potentially offend the guy for no reason. It sure didn't look like he was equipped to stock shelves though. His upper body didn't seem that mobile either. It wasn't like a Marine that lost his legs from and IED, but could still get around due to upper body strength. This guy seemed generally weak. Oh well, we'll see...
Walmart greeters seemed kind of pointless to me, but it was a cool way to give marginal employees a chance to work. Oldsters, handicapped... It gave them a chance to get out of the house, and be some kind of productive. I'd like to see more stores do that, but perhaps find another way of doing it instead of using greeters. There's some creative ways you can implement people that don't necessarily make you money up front, but would enhance the shopping experience, and build community loyalty.
