Actually there are 2 or 3 e-joints on the market now. One is actually hash oil in a cartridge and the makers claim each cartridge give 100 hits. lol. I think you can only get them in medically legal states from dispensaries, but the e-pot cig is actually already here. I think the one is called The Trippy Stick. lol

The difference with something like tobaco or marijuana is that the active ingredient (nic or THC) becomes a gas at a lower temperature than whatever medium it is delivered from (i.e. the leaves of the tobaco or the buds fo the MJ plant). For example, THC turns to a vapor at a lower temperature than plant matter combusts, hence a vaporizer can extract the THC without burning the plant matter and causing harmfull smoke. The problem with crack or methamphetamine is that there is not really any medium holding them, the drug itself is condensed and then turned to vapor by heating it to a certain temp. The entire rock is the "active ingredient" so to say.
Also the level of adulterants in street drugs varies in type and volume so even if you could melt off the "real" crack from whatever it is cut with, you would have to know what the adulterant is and what it's temperature threshold is so that you would know what temperature to heat it to in order to extract the "real" crack from it. Also, the crack would have to have a lower melting point than whatever the adulterant is, otherwise it wouldn't work since it would burn off the adulterant before igniting the "real" crack. Even fi you did have all of this, the drug and it's level (and type) of adulterants would have to be consistent. I.e. it would always have to be cut with baby asperin and always at a ratio of 1:3 or something. If one batch is cut instead with a laxetive at a ratio of 20:5 than it wouldn't work in the same e-cig device since it would require different temperatures.
In addition to that, the active ingredients in crack or meth are harmful stimulants so there is no way to extract it "without all the harmfull x,y,z". The active ingredient itself is harmful. With marijuana, THC isn't harmful, and with e-cigs, the nicotene isn't harmfull (though the jury is still out on whether or not this is actually true).
If you were to devise such a device however, meth would make a better e-cig because it is usually oil based and can be heated to vapor, then cooled, then reheated, so a few rocks in a chamber could be constantly heated and reheated until it is exhausted and can then be replaced. Then again, this would not have any added benefit to just smoking meth in the traditional way, since an oil burner (meth pipe) already serves as an e-cig. You roll the solid back and forth in a glass pipe while heating it until there is a vapor. The vapor is then smoked and leaves behind the ingredients which have a higher boiling point. So you are already extracting the "active ingredient" while leaving behind (some) of the other parts. That is unless you could get commercial grade meth that was purer, but then you would have more people dying because just like heroin the purer it is, the most likely it is to overdose.

Chewing on coca leaves is actually healthy for you and gives you a little pick me up, nothing like snorting refined cocain powder.

And can you make coca leaf tea? I imagine that would be great in the morning, if mixed with some green tea or something. Oh well, police state says it's a no go.

Just an fyi..you can get de-cocainized coca tea & leaves & flour online at a very popular website named after a river. They will supposedely still make you pee hot for a test but contain no cocaine alkaloids or maybe only minute traces. Anyway..the tea is pretty gross imho, tastes/smells like dirty socks. BUT it is a great pick-me-up and will give your mouth a very slight numbing sensation. Best part..the non-jittery energy only lasts for a couple hours which makes it a great evening drink..you will still be able to fall asleep at a decent hour. It's expensive but worth it

Mate de coca is great. I have a Peruvian friend who has given me bags in the past.
Desirexe: how is "de-cocainized" coca tea a pick-me-up? Maybe I missed something.
edit: just read the thread -- sgreger, yeah coca tea is hugely popular in Peru, Bolivia, etc. Mate de Coca. It tastes quite good and as for the effects, it's not any kind of big deal. In fact I believe you can order limited quantities of it online from the USA or bring up to 2 boxes of tea bags through US customs. Don't quote me on that. And not "de-cocainized". As you mentioned it takes loads of leaves to make 1 line or whatever. Tons and tons of coca leaves are shipped to a plant in NJ, where the cocaine alkaloids are extracted for pharmaceutical purposes, and the de-cocainized leaves are made into a syrup for the Coca Cola company. This is not an urban myth, look it up. They still use coca leaves, just deactivated.

This brand is pretty good... It's also available in different flavors (anise, chamomile, eucalyptus, etc).
Here's an interesting tidbit: The US Embassy in Bolivia recommends coca tea to treat altitude sickness.Words of Wisdom
