Celebrating 50 years of the Space Needle at "The Next 50"

In recognition of the 50th anniversary of the 1962 Seattle World's Fair, "The Next Fifty" celebrations kicked off at Seattle Center on Saturday. Yeah, it's orange... "Galaxy Gold" to be precise.

It's the exact same color that was used 50 years ago at the 1962 World's Fair.

Barruther does that date me. Went to the fair the summer it opened. Was fourteen I think. Don't remember an orange Needle though.

I was there today because the weather couldn't have been better for a visit and cruise around the harbor! I thought the space needle was hideous UNTIL I learned the meaning behind it..sweet!

Lippy the lion I think. No I'm not that old but when I was a kid in the early 80's it seems all we had was hanna barbera re-runs. Of course that was before disney channel and right before nickelodeon....... I always loved ricochet rabbit the best...
