A Lantana woman was arrested on Tuesday after her boyfriend's children told child welfare investigators that she allegedly beat them with an extension cord and threatened to send them to live with "the white people."
Johnita R. Allen, 25, is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail without bond, according to Palm Beach County Jail records. She is facing two counts of aggravated battery and two counts of child abuse.
Allen was arrested by Lantana Police at 5:37 p.m. on Tuesday after a Florida Department of Children and Families investigator began looking into an abuse complaint alleging that on Monday a 7-year-old boy was seen with a cut under his right eye and a bump by the eyebrow. The boy said Allen had hit him because he sat on her glasses, according to the probable cause affidavit.
Further investigation revealed that either the boy or his brother, whose names are withheld in the affidavit, had a busted lip as of Monday. One of the boys said that Allen often beats him with an extension cord and that she threatens to send him to live with "the white people."
Both the boy and his brother had several bruises on their upper legs and cut marks, the officer noted in the affidavit.
When Allen was interviewed by the officer, she said "I use a belt. I chastise them. I don't go crazy. I chastise them long enough to let them know he has been disobedient," according to the affidavit.
Both children were removed from the home by DCF, the affidavit stated.
