    This is your own statement.

You don't even know that intelligent and smart are synonyms, you're clearly an analphabet trying to pose as a "smart ass" on forums.

A romanian "Idiot" as you like to call me knows better English than you do.

sorry about the debate, but idiots like you that clearly make a mistake and don't even speak their own language properly should not be attacking other's from Romania that DO know the difference between the two English words better than you do. :-)

sorry but some people are smarter than others, that's the way it goes, if you haven't got my point on the thread, then just bad luck, go learn English.

Precious, you keep arguing about symantics. He is saying that g, intelligence, IQ quotient etc don't necessarily dictate how "smart" or "wise" you are. This is a true statement, despite the two words being synonyms in the English language.

look at the graph sgreger. Mass extinctions correlate with population size. Unless you think species diversity is not a problem, then there's an obvious population problem.

I know and on a Friday too, what a treat. Fridays are always boring at my office since most doctors offices are closed so I can't make any of my calls.

Precious believes in homeopathy and also believes that LSD will make you a schizophrenic. We have had many arguments like this before. I love all members of this forum, especially those I disagree with, but Precious is just saying "I HAVE A HIGH IQ, I AM RIGHT!" without knowing what the IQ of anyone else here is.

Furthermore you are now my litmus test for all Romanians since you are the one Romanian I have had contact with that such idiocy is why your country became the largest indebted to the IMF in the recent financial crisis.

And by proxy you have proven Romania as a waste of good parking space for Europe. Hope you enjoy dem apples. Good day.

          Ken
Ken, I'm really sorry that you still have a lot of English to catch up, and that you're clearly NOT respectful and calling me names on an open forum :-)

But for your own interest, I have nothing to do with IMF and I am not in debt so I really don't care about the Romania's financial situation. (I'm not even making a living from the Romanian society, they have nothing to offer.

No I understand why a population problem is a problem, I'm not claiming otherwise. What I am saying is that recent studies have shown that birth rates are already on the decline, and that the population is already stabilising itself. There was a really interesting TED talk on this where basically they did studies and showed that as education makes it way to third world countries where people traditionally have 6+ kids, they began having fewer and fewer kids, hence the birth rate is dropping. Essentially the projection is that as more and more of the world's population gets access to education, the more likely they are to have fewer children. So in theory the problem should correct itself over time.

Now the snag in this theory of course is that medical science is on the rbink of an explosion. Once stem cells make it economically viable to regrow organs etc, and things like heart attacks stop affecting mortality rates, than we will see people living a lot longer. In this scenario, population would skyrocket even if people only had one or two kids, since the parents essentially live for 2 generations instead of one (and hence take up space and resources at a rate of 2x that of a current human). So we may not be out of the woods yet.

Anyways, currently the population is stabilising, but we don't know long term what will happen. If things get too out of hand and the population becomes to large/dense, than disease and bacteria will take over and cull the population. The earth is self balancing and it will find a way to kill us off

We are in the middle of one of many mass extinctions, and it seems to be accelerated by the current human population, but other extention events were similarly triggered by different species taking over, and their numbers were eventually culled as well. Either we will kill ourselves down to size or nature will, not sure which is worse to be honest.

I know that buddy (lol, I didn't deny that, you've got my point now)

Way too obvious, we're not computers, you can't measure someone's education and/or the quantity of information that he/she has.

Ken I wonder if you act like that in public places, because then I understand better some of your morals of calling people idiots like that, just like whalen called me too ;-) People like you, I don't even look at in my normal day to day life. (At most I try to help them, as I've been helping you sort out two English synonyms.

              Moral of the story?

              Respect my ass.

I wouldn't be one to criticize people's usage of the english language. You speak in broken English at best. I always wrote this off since it is not your first language but since you want to act all superior and pretend to be a master of english. You understand the words but don't understand complete sentences, he was making a point and all you can see is two words, you completely disregard the different meanings of the two words as used in the english language. Intelligence is something science is still hotly debating, and no scientist has been able to understand it or make a solid definition of what it is or how to measure it. This is why intelligence, and therefore IQ tests, are such hotly debated subjects.

Edit; What's funny is that intelligence tests have been, historically, pretty good indicators of how much money someone will make, how healthy they will be etc. Yet I probably make more than you and you are unhealthy, so either the tests are wrong or your score isn't that high.

Where did you take your intelligence test, if I may ask?

Precious, why did you delete this comment? It was a good one.

I know that body since I was 5. (lol, I didn't deny that, you've got my point now)

Well pretty much somewhere around the age of 5.

At 5 years old I was programming in Visual Fox Pro and MSX. I know how to write since I was 4 as well as reading.

My stepfather is a Doctor of psychology. He did an intelligence test on me and I came out reasonably high.
It doesn't explain why I'm as thick as shite at some things though.

Intelligence is a complex matter. Some people are good at problem solving in an intelligence test but are crap at life.
I work at a major institute for scientists. They are some of the brightest people on the planet but when it comes to them executing a task with common sense a dead cat could do better.

that's because intelligent and educated people "THINK" a lot, unlike the regular guy that trims the trees.

That's how bright people are can't stand a second without thinking of something but when it comes to executing it becomes harder, because they energy is focused on thinking and they're clearly disturbed to do things properly by their own thinking.

But you youself have been calling others idiots, all while acting like you are smarter than literally everyone on the thread (as per the usual) and just generaly acting obnoxious.

His English was fine, if you understood what he was saying than maybe you would not be playing word games with his use of synonyms, as he specifically used two different words to illustrate his point. He did not misuse English, you just misunderstood english.

Not as much, and not as intense.

Never tried to be a smart ass, not a second. (in fact I am really a modest person)

If things look different, then can't do much about it.

I called Ken names because he was the one insulting me first and I responded, it's normal, but better ignore him.

Literally the name calling, shows disrespect, which he showed a lot, ironically on this thread, along with another 2 members. (you don't call people names like that on an open forum, except if you're making a joke right? (idiot doesn't sound too good to me even as a joke)

Just posted my point of view.
