    Topography of Faith

This is a very interesting map. As it opens, statistics are given for the entire country. As you move the mouse over each state, the statistics for that state appear.

Our news media are filled with stories that imply much larger percentages of certain groups. Perhaps "Perception is Reality" is true; you be the judge.

That is pretty interesting. I guess I live in the right area, there are more of us Unaffiliated in the west than the rest of the country.

In MD it's about 16% unaffiliated, with the rest evenly split amongst a few religions. My daughter used to go to a non-denominational Christian school. That place is a cult, and they're run by criminals. They wouldn't know Christ like behavior if they saw it. They're good at mouthing the words like proper little puppets, but have no idea how to practice it.

What do you mean? Which groups do they imply are larger than they really are? The map seems to imply the same thing as the media has always portrayed, which is that something like 80% of the US is christian of one variety or another, and everything else makes up the remainder. Am I missing something? Is there a certain state that is out of place or something?

Seems par for the course for anything "christian" if you ask me. Lots of talk but very few following the word. At least Muslims stick to the book most of the time lol.

That brings up an interesting topic. I've often wondered what America would look like if it were actually the Christian nation that so many folks thought it was. Just think of the millions that would be out of work in various less than savory industries.

Porn is considered to be larger than the movie business and make more income than that and professional baseball combined at least.

Throw in the number of prostitutes, pimps, strippers, drug dealers and loan sharks.

We really would have gone into a depression in 2007/2008.

Keep that in mind kiddies and thank your local pron consumer (Most likely you :P)

It goes even further than that. If we followed the bible and it's rules we would all be living back in the middle ages, complete with stonings, execution of gays, women being property etc. Christianity is diametrically opposed to the American way of life, and American values. There are few things less American than the actual word of God as written in the bible. We wouldn't pass muster for even just the new testament alone.

I feel for you brother. I have a friend with a Master's K12 certification in Science and Math. She volunteered all year as the AD for a Christian School. When a math opening finally came up, they told her that they had a more qualified candidate... someone that attends their church every week. Since she has to wait tables on Sunday at a nursing home to pay off her college loans didn't matter to these people. There is a special place in hell for people that use someone and then decided to put the pastor's pet in a position that does not even have a damn certification! I wonder what Jesus would do?
