Once in a while I google myself - Just to shut down old social media sites. It can be awfully embarrassing to find something I made when I was "a wee lad" that still floats around the internet.
I've just come off Facebook

Yeah, I have really mixed feelings about Facebook. It lets me get back in touch with extended family, schoolmates and college buddies, childhood friends and then stay back in touch with them. I really like it for that purpose, and so I reserve my friends list for people who I know in 'real life' and meet the above categories. Other than that, Facebook is pretty lame in my book.
Oh.....and, I haven't yet stopped laughing at people who bought shares of Facebook in the IPO.

It's quite nice to know that you're not the only person on the planet that thought that there was something wrong with facebooking. I was never comfortable with it...but then again I'm the kind of bloke whose ideal way of life is total isolation in a remote country cottage with an endless supply of beer.

Facebook-ing lol :^)
Well some people just like showing off on facebook and wasting their time with useless games or rambling about their neighbour ....
Speaking of spyware .............in the end lets not be paranoid .... we always have the choice keep an anonimity even on facebook....... and moreover if they DO collect some data about the users how would it be used against them? (probably spam mail?)
Facebook is more than just a social network, I own 5 fanpapages at the moment that can grow slowly and materialize in time. Facebook is a paradise for product/service owners/ for brands/ singers/ designers and so on.......
The only thing I hate about it, is how dumb some people are about posting 1000 photos of their babies, or teenage girls endlessy showing their bums (it's hilarious)
Myspace was pretty similar, but Facebook is getting of the charts........
I guess most people that spend time on facebook don't really have a life of their own....
IMO .... living a "virtual life" is such a waste.........
on the other side all these "Social Networks" aren't bringing people together......... it's the exact opposite it bringing them more and more apart............
As for the brands/companies .... facebook's been a paradise (the viral effect has made some people rich overnight).
