This is gonna fail miserably. This is like the Zune going up against the iPod. I'm not a die hard Apple guy, but this has no chance.

Such pessimism!
In total, Microsoft has sold about 1.5 million Surface devices, including both Pro and RT, according to Bloomberg. Surface RT was announced more than three months ago.
While the RT version initially sold out, Microsoft was able to meet demand quickly. That hasn't been the case for the Pro. The high-end 128GB Pro has been chronically sold out since its release on February 9. Only in the last week to ten days has the high-end model become readily available.
Of course, the Pro's numbers pale in comparison with the iPad. Apple sold more than 20 million iPads in the quarter ending December.
But, like Surface RT, the 9.7-inch Retina iPad starts at $499, while the iPad Mini is even cheaper, starting at $329.
The Surface Pro essentially squeezes a mainstream laptop into a 2-pound, 0.5-inch thick tablet. Pro packs a 1,920x1,080 resolution 10.6-inch display, Intel Ivy Bridge processor, 4GB of memory, and a full-fledged solid-state drive (not the slower flash drives found in Apple and Android tablets).

Still pessimistic(It's Microsoft)...I in general think tablets are a lame. Just an expensive toy. I refuse to buy one when my laptop is a few hundred bucks more and I can do everything...but play angry birds ; -) My wife has an iPad...used strictly for Facebook and games. What a great investment! I do however use it to control our digital audio board at work, which is pretty cool.

There's a Microsoft Store opening soon at the Saint Louis Galleria... I encourage you to check the storefront out, and demo the Surface Pro for yourself.Words of Wisdom

I feel that the Microsoft response is a act of desperation to reclaim share of a market that is clearly undergoing a radical change, and in typical fashion it is a forced effort that falls far short of a well integrated approach. I have been well victimized by them in the past, enough to be rather indifferent to the vast effort to control and dominate my choices. WINtel would well be concerned.wiki "Popcorn Sutton" a true COOT!

No I have not, I do follow the reviews. Give it a few years to tell. I am no longer a "new" adopter. I have and use a modest tablet "Tab 2", but the forced integration of touch and Win 8 does not compel me as of yet. I do hope you find joy with them though. I suffered long and hard from "Me" "Vista", and the XP days were mixed. I have found joy in win 7 and my last system build though, octa core has been enough for several years now.
To each his own, eh..........wiki "Popcorn Sutton" a true COOT!
