So I have this website and I would like to start a forum for the particular topic the website is about, as there are a lack of even halfway decent ones in existence right now. I own a namecheap domain name with a cheap/regular hosting plan and am wondering if this will be enough to start a forum. There will be almost no users to start so I am thinking maybe I can run it on my current hosting plan and upgrade later if more people show up. Does anyone have any experience with this?
I also have a server I rent with 1tb of data and a 100mbps up/down speeds that allows 5tb of traffic a month. Is it smarter to host the forum on this server, or on my websites regular $47 a year hosting plan? I don't know anything about how much space or bandwidth a forum takes up when it's in it's infant stages. Maybe some of the mods of some of the techies could help me out in planning this out so I get it hosted in the correct place.
