I would learn Spanish, but in my area at least, all of the bilingual jobs are flooded with people that can speak Spanish. A place where my mom works needs people that can speak all sorts of languages.

I don't mean to poop on your parade, but in my very humble opinion learning Swedish would be a waste of years of time and effort. If you move there, you will pick it up (good luck moving there). if you learn it here you will never use it. I can't think of the last time I met a Swede on the street, or anywhere else for that matter.
In geographic terms, Russian would take you a very long way:
Mandarin is no joke, but grammatically it is fairly straight forward, way more so than Japanese. And you earn double or triple the badass-points over Spanish proficiency.Comment

I'm learning German right now. Wanted to learn Russian a few months ago but realized I have more use out of German, so I will go about that one first. Learning languages is really fun, a shame I did not realize it back in school when I had three years of Spanish (which I failed severely).Comment

At school, I did Latin, French and German.
Latin was easy, but useless in terms of communicating with anyone, but good for understanding where modern words and grammar come from.
I found German much harder than French, but I was never really that gifted at languages. Classroom repetition is a rubbish way to learn, I'm hoping that when my kids start doing languages things have moved on a bit from my day.Comment
