You realize that life goes fast
It's hard to make the good things last
You realize the sun don'-go down
It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

All you have to add is the proposition the God has a morally sufficient reason for permitting the evil in the world that He does, and the counterargument becomes answerable.

But that's retarded. Why would God allow evil, unless he a) wants evil or b) can not stop evil. In the former he is evil, and in the later he is powerless. This cop out that he allows humans to be evil and then is mad that they are evil is stupid, we are his creations and made in his image after all, right?

Pretty silly. I still think the "Why a banana fits perfectly into a human hand argument wins everything.

                      On a deeper level though......

If I recall properly, God has pushed the "reset" button before, during the great flood. I don't pretend to know who or what God is, but I do have a pretty strong suspicion that there is a "god". It may just be a metaphysical manifestation that man needs in order to create order in the world or it may be a great cosmic flow of energy that someday will be explained with science.

The only thing I know for sure is that with age comes a greater understanding of why people are religious. Let's face the facts...... With out God, life is simply about ****ing. Simple as that.

Your dad got a job or developed some other attractive trait in order to attract your mother so that they could ****. They ****ed and made you. They worked their ass off in order to make you able to find another person to ****. And **** you did. You work your ass off in order to raise your own little ****ers so they can go out in the world and you guessed it, **** others! We work to have money to have a comfortable home to ****. We keep in shape to **** more or we get lazy because we are comfortable ****ing the same person day in and day out. We get a raise or start a business to be able to **** more.

Now I'll be the first to agree that ****ing is ****ing fun, but ****ing all the time would get ****ing boring. This is where religion comes in play. We have to **** the right (and same person) or shit gets out of whack. If there is no moral compass, then rich and powerful people **** everyone!

If there is no life after death then ****ing seems like a waste of time.

How many more ****s can I add? Not ****ing sure.

Is that an issue? Why does it have to be more than that? After spreading your genes, you can die at your earliest convenience. You've fulfilled your role, and no longer have purpose. Everything else is just for personal kicks.

Well, what about self-realization? Doing what you've always wanted to do?
It might be a cultural difference here, but over here religion govers next to nothing, but in turn, sex is also loosing power. Of course not amongst us youngsters, but will it ever? But love and life is about so much more than sex? For me sex is more of a natural desire and a pleasent experience, but I sure as hell don't keep sex amongst my most treasured memories. I don't try to succeed just to have more sex, and I don't ****ing F*** with whoever. I can manage without sex on a regular basis, but I can't manage to live without social interactions, some sort of "drive" or anything personal.
But I accept the guidelines that religion has put established in our society, and I think that religion was an important factor in creating a civilized world in a time where everything was unruly... But these days organized religion seems to be mere remnants of a previously important institution - these days it serves no purpose, and in several instances it holds people back. I wish I was religious sometimes, it seems to give people a purpose apart from just personal success, but I just can't bring myself to believe in any religion.

In absence of a higher power, I agree. I'm not advocating either perspective, just sharing an observation.

Along that mindset though, one could argue that life in general, using that mindset, is a complete waste on a macro scale. My life is important to me, but to civilization as a whole, not so much. Again, just sharing an observation. Trust me, my life is worth plenty to me

I also agree about the sex reply from Mdisch but at the same time, unless one attains fame or large scale notoriety, life is inconciquential. Simply trying to achieve personal success or our lives desires are meaningless when you realize that we, as individuals, account for 0.0000000000143% of the world.

This is why religion exists. In religion, God loves ME. He has a plan for ME. I am not some random person, I am a person to my God. It hits our emotional need to be a part of something bigger than just another mammal on this god forsaken rock flying through the universe.

If God had no plan for me and I'm just another creature here to create the next generation of people who are just here to create the next genera........ And so on and so forth. What are the consequences of bad behavior? So I die or spend a few years in jail. I'll just die anyway. Where is my moral compass? What is actual right and wrong?

                            Just thinking outloud
