To those who think stricter gun control is the answer to stopping tragedies like this... Do you think his firearms were legal? I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing not. I don't want to live in a world where only the criminals and unstable wackos have guns.

I would say thank the NRA for heroes like this below. Look at those little f$ckers trip over one another running out the door. Too bad somebody like this was not in the theater in these violent times with criminals who pack guns.

It wouldn't have done shit. He used tear gas, riot helmet and flak jacket. Get real

If a trained individual was concealing his firearm earlier this morning, there is a good chance this scenario would of ended differently.

Amen to that! Also I love your signature pic, Dirt Hippies: Democracy. Unwashed. lolol, classic.

Theater shooting suspect was graduate student at Colorado medical school

By Pete Williams, Bill Dedman and NBC News staff

The man suspected of carrying out the Colorado movie theater shooting, wearing a Batman-like outfit of black ballistic gear, was a 24-year-old Phi Beta Kappa graduate student in neuroscience.
James Eagan Holmes, from San Diego, was a graduate student in the neuroscience program at the University of Colorado Medical School campus in Aurora, a university spokesman told NBC News. He was in the process of withdrawing from school, the university confirmed.

              NBC News
James Holmes, the suspect in the Aurora, Colo. movie theater shooting.

"The University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus can confirm that Mr. James Holmes was in the process of withdrawing from the University of Colorado Denver's graduate program in neurosciences," the university statement said. "Mr. Holmes enrolled at the university in June 2011."
The university website listed one of his courses as the Biological Basis of Psychiatric and Neurological Disorders. He was listed on the class website as making apresentation in the spring on MicroRNA biomarkers.

Oh Joe, how I miss your bigoted rantings. Glad to see you back posting again.

Of course he must be a redneck for wanting to own guns. I guess everyone in seden are rednecks too. You are the one with no solution, your solution is dissapear all the guns which will never happen in a million years ever. And even then, they will just use something else, homemade explosives, chemical agents, whatever. Guns aren't the problem, whackos are the problem. By letting trained people legally carry a concealed firearm we have a chance to neutralize these whackos before they complete their rampage. That is really the only solution. Saying "let's make crime and guns and everything illegal" sounds nice but is not an actual plan since it is more impossible than whitney Houston taking her lips of the crack pipe.

When somebody fights back it throws the whole plan off as you can well see in a live situation with gramps. Flak armour cannot guarantee you will not be knocked on your ass and from one witness the shooter was shooting upwards from the bottom of theater which would give high ground the advantage.

Like somebody has already stated it is the mental illness of this country that we should take care of first before we start to take away guns from law abiding citizens.

What kind of drugs, big pharma medication will be in his toxicology report? is my big question.

Imagine if everyone had guns there? It would have been a war zone. Might have been even more victims when you think about it. First someone shoots the maniac, and someone sees the maniac being shot and thinks the guy who shot him is a maniac too

Yah a flak jacket isn't going to do shit. You are going to be out of commision after getting shot, and if someone hits you with a 45 than you are probably going to just lie there in pain until the ambulance comes anyways. The point is to neutralize them, and a flak jacket does not stop you from being neutralized. Also it only covers your upper torso, as though there weren't other places you could shoot.

It's just like 9-11. If one guy in there had had a weapon to fight back with than the lunatics with box cutters wouldn't have been in control.

That's not exactly how these sorts of things play out. You a) wouldn't shoot anyone unless you know it was the shooter, that there was no living thing in his backdrop that may be hit with a stray bullet, etc etc. Again, trained armed people are what we are discussing, not just issuing everyone in america a gun and telling them to go stop crime.

In that chaos you couldn't be sure. There was a firing scene in the movie once the shitlord started to shoot so no one first even realised that someone was shooting in the theater

Well first of all we have to admit to the fact that this guy started off with a ****ing gas grenade and had a mask on and everything, so everyone in that theatre was probably ****ed anyways, regardless. The whole thing is that, often times in these scenarios, after the initial shootings are over, the person flees and is often time able to (until the cops find him). The idea is to shoot him as soon as is reasonably possible so as to prevent further mayhem on his behalf. Stopping the initial event of him shooting everyone up though would in this scenario be unrealistic because he had gas and came very prepared to do a quick hit and run. Even the military has trouble reacting in situations like that, but the idea is that he won't get away with it for long if someone is armed. If no one is armed, than he gets to shoot fish in a barrel until the cops arrive.
