    It's still to damn hot!

When the hell is this heat going to end? My backyard looks like something from Lawrence of Arabia.

      Seattle : 72° F / 22° C

      Wishing you were here?

Then again, it's supposed to hit 86°F / 30°C tomorrow... Yeah, it's hot but I'm not complaining. The summer weather has been good to the pacific northwest.

New study links current events to climate change

WASHINGTON—The relentless, weather-gone-crazy type of heat that has blistered the United States and other parts of the world in recent years is so rare that it can't be anything but man-made global warming, says a new statistical analysis from a top government scientist. The research by a man often called the "godfather of global warming" says that the likelihood of such temperatures occurring from the 1950s through the 1980s was rarer than 1 in 300. Now, the odds are closer to 1 in 10, according to the study by NASA scientist James Hansen. He says that statistically what's happening is not random or normal, but pure and simple climate change.
"This is not some scientific theory. We are now experiencing scientific fact," Hansen told The Associated Press in an interview.

I take exception to the "man made" part, but things are definitely warming up and changing, regardless of origin. Humans contributing to it is highly likely imo, but hasn't been proven AFAIK. Polluting less, and taking more things into account than "me" is a good idea, just as it has been since time began, but we should be wary of government control, and question the real motivations of anyone trotting out fixes that require more than conscientiousness in living.

            Spoke too soon. It climbed to 94° F (34.4 C°) today, and it's now sitting at 88° F (31.1° C).

Still not complaining, though I'm sweating like a pig.

Yeah, luckily we only get days like this a few times every couple years. It's times like this though I sure miss air-conditioning!

Whiners! Hit 102-103 yesterday and I ended up doing 12 hrs of maintenance and install in the boiler house at work. Last time I looked at the thermometer inside it was nudging 110. Before noon.
Decided I wasn't going to look again. We were going outside to cool off as the 102 or so felt pretty good.

I'm near Salem OR. I'd just have to move back a few days later when it cools down again. We're only 90+ a few days a year.
Though even the mid-upper 80 temps just about killed me when I moved here after spending 40 yrs on the coast and I thought about moving back.
It took a few yrs to get used to it.

It hit close to 110 there?!

Nah,102 was the high but it gets a bit warmer inside the boiler house I run. Generally 85 or so in there on a cool day and miserable on hot days. Its a popular place in the winter though.
