Ditched my iPhone, just got a Samsung Galaxy S3. Please help

So my iphone was my first smartphone and I have now gotten rid fo it and grabbed the new SamSung Galaxy S3. I am in the process of rooting it right now, but was wondering what ROM's are good, what apps are essential etc as I have NEVER used an android phone before.

If anyone has some of those "must have" items or has any recommendations for ROM's that would be awesome.

I like the F-droid repository. Not a huge selection, but all the apps are libre, and have source code available.

        Cyanogen.

There are tons of good apps.... For me my only must have I can think of off the top of my head is Moola, it's a digital checkbook I'm way more comfortable with it and knowing all my finances to the penny all the time, I was not the best of keeping track of finances with paper.

Lol, no you dick. I mean like what software/apps etc are necessary. I know there are firewall programs, prgrams that run all your traffic through a VPN and cmpress it to cut your data usage (at the expense of internet speed) etc. I know there must be lots of cool apps out there so if anyone would like to mention them please let me know.

Quell is the best game ever. I was hooked on it for days.

This is another app I use a lot

                      https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...2lzZS5mdWxsIl0.

It plays different sounds like the ocean or a waterfall while you go to sleep. It has a timer so it shuts off automatically and it doubles as an alarm clock. Sometimes it is really hot here at night and I enjoy listening to sounds like rain or thunder when I go to sleep.

quell was awesome, but left me wanting more.

check out cyanogenmod and forum.xda-developers.com for rom stuff if you have not already. You'll probably get Jellybean next month though

You know there are 2 Quells out? The original Quell and Quell Reflect. Both are like a buck.
